6mt transmission fluid

im thinking of flushing my transmission fluid on my 6mt. I know BMW only recommends changing the fluid once.

has anyone changed the fluid? if so what fluid did you use? im thinking of using Motul ATF transmission fluid instead on the OEM fluid.

I'm happy with my redline D4 ATF, but I know Motul makes great stuff as well. Check the DIY section for fluid change info.

I did this last weekend. Ending up using OEM transmission fluid. Order through Tuner.

I bought BMW fluid. Changed mine at 40k along with brake, diff and PS fluid. Still need to do coolant. I used BMW diff, PS and trans fluid.

I use Redline in my E36M3. Have tried D4ATF and MTL and did not notice any difference, but the MTL is in there now. Also tried Royal Purple Synchromax and did not notice any difference. I may use Redline next time on the E90M3, but that won't be for several years at the rate I drive.

I replaced mine with Motul for the trans, and diff. Made such a nice difference.

The service book states to change the gearbox oil at every third oil service.

Fuchs Titan is better than the Castrol oil in my experience and makes for super smooth shifting even from cold.

Not in the UK it isn't. It's very clear in the service guide provided by BMW that the manual gearbox oil is changed on a regular basis. Given the manual gearbox for all markets is the same, I'd assume BMW AG have been able to produce correct and consistent wording globally as to when the fluid should be changed.

Fuchs Titan Sintofluid SAE75W-80 synthetic MTF is for manual gearboxes and not DCT.

Could you scan the service guide and post it here? I'm right at the 50k mile mark and I'm bringing it on Monday before my warranty expires. Maybe if I show them something I can get them to change the MT fluid. Thanks.

That seems like a bit of a long shot but maybe you can get lucky, where are you bringing it to?

Jordan, I was just emailed a service bulletin from BMW that states that every 3rd oil change the MT fluid should be changed as well as the diff. I was told by my SA (who is very good, but obviously not all-knowing) that it doesn't need to be done. I'm bringing it to Frank for the warranty you told me about next week (I'm 400 miles away from 50k so I'm bringing it to the dealer one last time). I'm bringing to Rally BTW.

Had my car in for service yesterday (27.5k miles) and they changed out the engine oil, diff and tranny fluid and swapped the spark plugs. My 6sd (UUC SSK + DSSR + F10 M5 knob) feels the exact same after the fluid change which I take as a good thing becasue it means it was already performing as it should. Rifle bolt action confident shifts as usual. Still nice to know all the fluids are fresh and clean
