Primary & secondary cat delete smell?
Is anyone in San Diego running secondary and primary cat delete on their e9x m3? I currently have test pipes and thinking of deleting my secondary cats but I hear the smell gets a lot worse. If anyone is running this setup in San Diego please reply/pm me. If it'd be possible to meet up so I can hear/smell the car to see if it's a good route to go. Thanks in advance!

I have the akrapovic catless x-pipe and it smells pretty bad. Passengers always complaining, friends never want to drive behind me, and always seeing people move over in my rear-view mirror. I rarely drive with windows down more than half way because I literally cannot breathe at red lights. But with windows all the way up, can't smell a thing. I usually just drive with windows 1/4 way down to hear my exhaust, smell isn't TOO bad, worth it IMO and the power gains is a plus!

I deleted the primary first. And for me, I didn't notice much of a smell difference just tiny bit of volume. But I always drive with my windows down so I guess I got used to it lol.

You are basically running now a catless setup and you will smell the exhaust. I smell exhaust now with just testpipes but pretty much only when the car is cold. When the car is fully warmed up and the rear cats are to temp pretty much OEM.

I run an Akra Evo and so I just have a 100 cell secondary. The car smells when cold even stock so I almost can't tell a difference. When the pipes are warmed up it smells less but even still, with windows down, when you come to a stop, the forward inertia of the fumes will enter your cabin and not smell nice at all.

i'm catless with a blower, so it's even more rich. windows down when stopped more than a few seconds and the smell is pretty bad, I've debated adding secondaries in but I love quad resonators..

Hey who cares if there's noxious odors and pathogens for you, your passengers, and all the other drivers around you? Your lungs won't notice for many years and by the time they do, you'll think it was something else that caused your demise. I say screw the air quality and screw your health if you can get more power from the car!

I run the Macht Schnell Track Pipes on the OEM XPipe/Exhaust.
Installed a few days ago, but so far, I haven't noticed any poor smells or anything though. Maybe only a slight slight hint of it. There are still secondaries in tact, so I'm pretty sure that helps a lot anyways. |

deleting your primaries would make a much bigger difference with smell vs your secondaries.
a secondary cat delete will give you a deeper exhaust note and a stronger top end pull. maybe 5 hp gain. |

secondary with primary might be a little bit too much though but I would still do it anyway just for the gains and sound |
