I'm not sure. Her company was Driver's Edge in California. Not sure if she kept the same company name in Austin.

Thanks! I got a used set of Apex EC-7s in 18x10 with Hankook R-S3s. This is probably a temporary solution. I'm really hoping this group buy goes through so I can get ARC-8s in gold (now donning my flame suit): http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1313525

Thanks!

Not my first track day. I had an e46 330i that I tracked for about five years and I race Lemons in an e36.

I just picked up my e90 in May and I've done a day at Streets of Willow and a day at Big Willow on stock tires and brakes. I had fun getting to know the new car at those events but the stock equipment really isn't up to the task. I destroyed the PS91s that came new on the car in those two days, and overheated the stock pads so badly at Big Willow. It took some serious effort to grind off all the uneven deposits with a set of PFC-08s.

It is, however, my first time at Auto Club. Anything I need to know or be concerned about given the uniqueness of the track? Oil starvation, etc?

I'll come say hi for sure. Did you get a garage? I'm John, by the way. You're... Mike?

Ok cool, so you already know about the brakes and sock over the power steering reservoir.

Yep, the name is mike. I always have a cooler full of water and drinks for all my garage friends.

Nothing specific to pass on about the track. Maybe have some extra pads on hand?

I going on 11/20 as well and got a garage. Will they let us group our garages together? This will be my first time at ACS as well.

Make sure your car has at least mid-point in oil - this is a motor killer track - with NT01 I was pulling 1.5 G on the bank; our engine is rated at 1.4G pickup from the sump...

You will be at the top of 6th in a DCT car here.

Definitely be careful on the oval -- oil starvation is a risk. You should be ok with your tires, but watch your lateral Gs and don't sit on the redline. It's also a good idea to inspect your car thoroughly beforehand, since ACS will push everything harder than usual. I had a wheel hub fail at ACS, almost resulting in a collision! There's another guy here who had the same (longboarder, IIRC).

Tracking with slightly overfilled oil level

This may a stupid question but are there any benefits of tracking with slightly overfilled oil (+1/4 qt, etc). I know the disadvantages such as oil frothing etc.

But tracks with high lateral G where oil starvation is a concern (ex. acs) would this be any benefit. Or does the danger outweigh any potential benefit

Another reason is I accidentally overfilled by a little and sorta lazy to drain it lol

I like to keep adding oil until I am at the high fill mark. If you think you are over that you might just remove what's in the filter housing until it drops down a notch. I also think it averages the last few readings so it may be a few days until you see an adjustment.

Also, if I do a full oil change (both plugs and filter) I usually end up adding 8.5 liters back in to get to the high mark. This might vary slightly based on the angle your car is at when draining.

Then not sure on your actual question, sorry!

Does it matter that acs has some serious banking at those g's? It's not like the car is pulling that hard and staying flat.

I'm sure if it was that big of an issue the guys with gutted cars running 295 tires would have issues at almost any track.

The banked roval is def hard on the car. theres a lot of G's but more importantly the duration is quite long. Its a long turn. With most other turns, the turns are quite quick in comparison.

I think thats what i'l do to be safe. Do you know how much oil you can drain out from the oil filter housing?

I pull from the drain in front. Add back .25mL at a time. Do this well in advance because our readings change in days not in real time. Edipstick ftw!

We've been to ACS plenty of times why you asking now?
