I grew up on the East Coast so I'm more familiar with the area and have friends/family here. I think the PNW is a beautiful place but I have to say, I like the NJ/NY/PA area a lot more. Sales tax is also 10%+ in WA vs 6%+ in NJ, so that was kind of annoying to get used to. Property tax is stupid high in NJ though, so it's give and take. Gas is typically an entire dollar less in NJ, which is nice.
PNW weather during the fall thru winter months is depressing and I think the caliber of ethnic cuisine is tremendously inferior to that of CA or the East Coast; those would have to be my main two gripes. On the flip side, people (strangers) are more relaxed and all around friendlier/nicer in the PNW, but I'm completely used to the colder/all-business/ruder demeanor of people here in the tri-state area since I grew up here, so it's not really a big deal to me. |
