Cause I remember every time I have had low oil warnings and I added a little (cause I know it says add a qt...but I rather under fill than over fill), I'd need to drive around for it to get back up to operating temp (and the sensor resets?) to get a new/updated reading.

You are going to get mixed experience at every dealership. I've been going to BMW of Fremont for the past 6 months only because of Nick Lal. I had my car in for an oil change yesterday morning and I know Nick had to leave after lunch which is why you got switched to another SA.
Nick always takes care of me. Whenever I bring my car in, he makes sure my alcantara steering wheel is wrapped, and there's a big NO WASH sign on the dash of my car. He also knows I maintain my own brakes, wheels, and tires so he just asks me to make sure everything is okay with those components and resets the idrive service warnings for them. As long as he isn't busy with a lot of customers he'll personally take my car back to the shop as well. And if I need a loaner, he always gets me the best loaner he can get (328i convertible, 335d, z4, etc). In the end you just need to find the SA who cares about his customers (especially his regulars) and your car is generally in good shape. I've heard horror stories at pretty much every dealership in the Bay Area so there's really no best place to go for service.

I could have blamed Peter Pan for the SA, but it wasn't PP fault, but the SA giving me bad info.

Well I can't say if it's SA's fault as SA is not the person who does maintenance, nor would I ever know who has driven my car out, however if this kind of thing happens a lot (which I believe) IT IS BMW Fremont's responsibility to regulate its employees at the end of the day. AutoNation is the largest car retailer in this country they should have known it. This is becoming a management topic LOL
Thanks, Jared |

That really sucks to hear that. I have had the same experience with radiantm3 when working with Nick Lal.

Likewise with the last poster, I've had good service with Nick Lal. Nick also assigns the car to a certain tech (forgot who) each time for me. When I brought my car in for the 16k service, they only put an extra 2.2 miles on it. Sorry about your experience, I'm sure everything is still fine though. Maybe next time for sure get Nick as the SA, sucks that you were pressed for time.

whoever thinks that it's ok for 22 miles to be added to their car by a dealer for "testing" is out of their mind...
took me a max of 7-10miles to get an oil reading, and even then, as another member stated on here, I also tell my SA to write that my car cannot be test driven, i'll do it myself...

I've been going to Fremont of BMW for over 12 years now on all the BMWs I've had the privilege to drive. I've gone through several great SAs and a couple of horrible ones. Unfortunately, most dealerships have a revolving door of SAs, especially if they're not producing ($$ for non-warranty work). So if you find a great one, stick with them!
At BMW of Fremont, I too would also recommend Nick Lal. To the OP: I would ask the SA to explain the mileage difference. It better be some good BS for 22 miles. |

Wow same a happened to me at Monrovia BMW.
16k mile service, told them to check my tpms error also. Brought in car with 16316 miles. Car came out with 16357. The out reading on invoice said 16340. Almost half a tank of gas gone. Where the Fuck did these guys go with the car. I'm pissed off and will be calling BMW NA everyday until this is resolved. |

...and everyone thinks the force bundled maintenance contract BMW forces upon the consumer is a wonderful deal!
If BMW dealership service depts had to truly compete for your business these joy rides would not be happening. With the way things are now, the "free" oil changes keep the $ flowing and people coming back for the service they were forced to buy with their car...no matter how awful the experience. ...I'm actually shocked the "free" maintenance has not come under the scrutiny of anti-trust regulators. I see no difference between what BMW is doing vs Microsoft bundling IE and WMP with windows, and paying hefty fines for limiting consumer choice as a result. I guess you can go buy a different brand...then again if the practice was above board every brand would have adopted the business model since its a cash cow. |

I agree, ever dealership is the same. They are all good to you until your warranty is up, then they try to shark you for $$ for out of warranty service and just like every other business they need to make money. It has happened to me at Fremont BMW with Nick Lai. As for the miles that were put on your car, just ask for an explanation on why that has happened, you are not BMW tech so there might of been a reason and if there is not then raise hell.

RPi and South bay BMW (or was it Pacific) helped get things back to normal. On topic- 22 miles is way to far to raise oil temps or get a diagnosis. Anything more than 5 is a joyride and even that's pushing it. |
