The NT01 is a great treated r-comp because it communicates when at the adhesion limit, as you discovered lol

It also has a very forgiving traction curve, so you can gather it up instead of just being a passenger (though I was a passenger with NT01's on the race car many times...). Talent. How does it work?

So any consensus on the best place to get these tires when this special sale isn't running? Discount Tire Direct has a $40 off through 3/31 (and free shipping), for a total shipped price of $978. Assume that's about as good as you are going to do on these?

Discount tire runs 100 off a pair every once and a while for a total of 200 off.

Yup Discount is still the lowest priced i've found even when they aren't running any kind of sale. Not to mention they get to Chicago in a couple of days.

I realize (it's in this thread), but I just missed the last sale, and don't know if I can wait until the next one, hence the question. Thanks Downshift for the reply.

cancel that shit. you paid $133 too much.

its not terrible if you really need them, but if you can wait- the deal is $804 shipped.

not really, i've seen the 7% off thing before. they might run that a lot. apparently the "two for $402 shipped" deal comes around every march.

I hear Roastbeef is opening up a tireshop specializing in selling NT01s out of his garage.....

Thanks for posting this sale, even though it's not "the" sale.

For those that have been watching "the" sale for some time now, does anyone recall seeing this sale pop up during May/June timeframe? Unless I get an earlier event booked, looks like my first will be mid-July, so I need to get these tires by then. I'd rather get $70 off than nothing if I don't take this sale, and don't see "the" sale again.

So I just put an order through at this price, and just be aware for others that might be trying to use the ebay store, their store or store design is pretty shady. They basically give an option of using paypal credentials or use a credit card. I was originally planning to use a credit card, then saw the "the transaction might be easier if you use paypal credentials, so switched to that option. Once I logged in, I saw that paypal only works either with checking (if you don't have paypal money) or only paypal CC. I clicked back, then clicked continue with the original Credit Card option selected, and it put the order through using my Paypal/checking info without every asking for a final verification. This is completely horrible website design at best and borderline very shady at worst.

I've emailed them to fix it, and hopefully they should, but bottom line, if you don't have paypal money or a credit card, don't mess with that option at all.

I've done probably hundreds of online transactions, and I've never seen a website not provide a final confirmation on payment to make sure everything was captured as the customer intended, or update/cancel the order immediately after posting if something went through wrong. Regardless of the outcome, I have to say this must be one of the poorest website payment designs I've ever encountered, and I'm unintentionally out ~$1000 in my bank account until discount tire/ebay/paypal fixes, which from my paypal experience, will probably be a fucking week.

FYI, the wait times were kind of bad (on hold for 30 minutes), but my wife was able to speak to someone today and get it switched to a cc. Anyway, word of warning, be careful using Paypal credentials when buying.

Also, interestingly enough, looks like the 7% off (~$70) ended last night, but now they have a $50 off coupon code. I suppose anyone deciding to wait didn't miss much, seem to be almost always running something off, just never know what it will be.

I had a very different experience. I used my cc on eBay like normal. Nothing suspect.
Had to cancel an order I didn't properly put the discount code in for and they cancelled/refunded the same day though eBay.

Same, I had the same issue with applying the discount code, and refunding was very easy. It actually wouldn't let me do the discount code with a credit card, I had to pay via paypal.
