Lurking and spying the E92

Hello,

I've been massaging the idea of buying a project car and gutting it. Fat tires, roll cage (maybe) two seater.

I loooove that there's a V8 M3. I know it's not the fastest car in the world, but I also realize that fast is not the whole thing.

That said, how "fast" in a straight line can one make an E92?

What are some stout HP/0-60 numbers you guys have recorded? Mods to achieve?

I'm considering E92 or Sl36 (M156)..

0-60 or 1/4 miles times are not what the car is about. really, if you care about these stats, you will be dissapointed. your x5m can destroy an e92 m3 in a straight line.

What are your goals for said project car? How do you intend to use it?

As mentioned above, the m3 is not a 1/4mile car.

The E92 M3 has alot of potential today, You can run high 11's in the quarter mile with a fbo m3 gutted on e85. 60-130 times you can pull high 10's as well. It would be much faster than a stock sl63 or a stock header tune catless sl63. I had a e90 m3 dct and have slips, verified draggy runs & videos of roll racing m156 cars

Totally understand. I am hoping to get a bit of speed out of it, and I realize I wont be breaking any records. I want a fun weekend car that I can take out and enjoy. I dont need anything more than two seats, and I like the M156 for example because of the symphony it makes. That motor is amazing but really gutless in lower RPM ranges.

This is what I'm talking about! What's "fbo"? E90 is the four door correct?

If I can get enough power out of it to satisfy the butt dyno but also have all the other amazing characteristics of the car, that would be a dream machine.

FBO is full bolt on which is basically tune intake pulley exhaust etc & yes e90 is the sedan!

Go with the E92 M3, you won't be disappointed!! Like the M156, you'll really want to rev it out both for the symphony and the power up top. Hit me up if you want to chat about it

BTW, congrats on your new X5M, your old one is still running strong, I already put 12k miles on it

Fast in a straight line is a function of how much money you are willing to shell out. Ditch the V8 and strap a turbine to the car, sounds more exotic imo, that'll get you moving quick along with gutting the car like you mention.

Search, plenty of threads on mods already, the platform has only been around ~12 yrs.

Thank God brother. That car was babied and driven with respect. Hopefully it lasts you another 100,000 worry free miles. ❤️

Supercharged M3’s have no problem keeping up if not beating newer M5’s. That’s not bad at all.
