Wheels Rubbing
I'm on Volk ZE40 19" ET22, 9.5" front with 255/35/19 AD08R tires. Tires run more square than normal.
Noticed today that my front right tire is rubbing against the fender liner at full lock.. There's even a small hole starting to appear (red arrow). Is this normal? I was thinking of adding 5-10mm spacers for a more flush look. Will that help or make it worse? |

Normal and spacers will make it worse

To aggressive offset for a 26" tall tire, its the overall diameter with the aggressive offset not the width.

He's taking about the taller 255/35/19 tire up front.

Redd,
It looks like the front tire you are running is a bit too tall and is the cause of that rubbing. This scrubbing on the liners is normal and will not damage anything other than that liner. You could consider going with a 265/30-19 in order to drop the tire down to a 25.26" rolling diameter which should aid in clearance. A 265 tire also fills out a 9.5" wheel a bit better. Please note that adding a spacer to this fitment up front will make the scrubbing worse and is not recommended. - Max

I had the same tires with an et 25 9.5" wheel. Also rubbed on full lock. I dealt with it by not making full lock turns.
I'm now on 275/30 on 10" wheels which also rub and deal with it the same way. More work to complete tight turns, not ideal but comes with the territory. |
