So my friend just got a 2005 4cyl civic and its really damn slow. he's looking into turboing it and i said i would look around with him.

does anyone know any custom shops in Jersey that do this type of thing? or just an idea where to look? (and please dont say the honda forum)

thanks

No.. Just no.... Civic's between 2001-2005 are horrible. The new generation has a great supercharger for the current SI. If your looking to mod a civic look for 1991-1995 Gen, 1996-2000, 2006-Current. Good luck!

Boosting it will be the least expensive option for his car but I'm not sure any reputable companies make a kit for it (real tuners realized that the engine wasn't a great platform... ie. GReddy, Comptech, Jackson Racing, etc...).

Most 7thgen owners will do a K20 swap... it's a more reliable option.

My project im working on right now is Special K. Purchasing a lightly used K20 or if I can find a K24 i'm gonna pick up one. Will be be a built motor and most likely be boosted. Can you say 400hp and 2700lbs of weight?

nooo don't do it !!! please don't, i love EVO's but from BMW to evo is just wrong. Evo's are plastic POS, my friend had one and the interior is like a plastic disposal area. i hated sitting in it, my ass hurt every time we went for a long drive.

Turboing a 4 cyl civic isn't going to help much. He'll still get smoke by a mini van.

Turboing his hooptie wouldn't help much. But think twice about B, K, H series engines. Your E500 would be left in the dust under most cases.

I dont know of any shops but a boosted civic is always a fun option, leave the bmw fanboi comments aside. This is not the ideal generation for the job but it will still do the trick, if I where him however I would do an all motor set up with suspension, nice wheels and rubber.

Seriously doubt that lol. Not surprise you made that comment since you own 2 hondas.

Boosting a 4-banger is just a waste of $$

Ha, actually by no means am I biased. But, when a honda engine is properly built and boosted (which is VERY few and far between) they are a hell of combo. Sure the torque won't be as high, but the power to weight ratio is ridiculous
