Tire Recommendations.

Looking for some new tires for my 18x10 ARC8. Cars on Swifts with EDC and has bolt ons.

I'd like something I can drive on the street with an occasional track use 1-2 times a year.

275/35/18

Mainly looking at the RT615, RT660, and R888R.

Car isn't a daily and it's not a track monster. Just want something that'll be good for both. I'd like something that's has a good tread width as my current Hankook V12 look a little slim being only 9.4".

Opinions?

It's always tricky deciding these things. It really depends on how much you drive on the street, how hard you are on track etc etc

That said I ran the rt615 this year and they'll be done after 3 track weekends and about 5k street miles. They're a great endurance tire, and I like non directional for rotating to all 4 corners. But if you drive "endurance" items hard they wear even faster than the quicker tires.

I'd skip the r888 and look at nt01's or super car 3r's if you want a fast 100tw tire.

For your situation the 200tw or higher sounds better. Hankook rs4 would be a good one to consider.

Or honestly if you could -2.5 degrees or more of camber, I'd think the pilot sport 4s would be great for just a couple events a year. And they'll last much longer on street

Good info here. I'm at -2 all around and want at least 5k street miles out of them. It would be 90% street tire and 10% track. Not planning on pushing it hard at the track until I can get a BBK and some bucket seats.

Don't quote me but -2 might be enough for pilot sport 4s. They're actually great on track it's just the soft side wall can cause quick outer wear without camber. That would probably be my choice for a tire if I'm doing 1-2 events a year

I went away from Michelins to try the Hankooks a few years ago and I immediately went back to PS4S's.

Which hankook and for what purpose? Street, track or both?

V12 Evo2 for the street. I had traction issues, with only an exhaust and tune.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Hankook v12s are a budget tire. I would not recommend them for any type of street performance. They suck

Yea mine spin like crazy. They come on the set of ARC's I purchased. They are good in the rain and are quiet. But I'd like something a bit wider and more sticky.

Agreed but that's my experience with Hankook, I'll never put them on anything I own going forward. I want to try the Michelin pilot sport cup 2R's, on second set of wheels, as now I'm supercharged with no traction in 1st or 2nd gear.

I don't know, Hankook v12s are pretty good, no problems here.

San Jose California roads suck too! then again we have good weather so Hankooks play nice.
