Previous owner had spoiler and BMW splitters installed/partially painted. Also supposedly has Dinan DCT tune. Rod bearings were done at a shop in the Cincinnati area. I had replaced the gears in the throttle actuators near 100K miles when the fuel tank breather went bad. Those lasted about two years when I replaced with rebuilt units. Replaced water pump this spring. Did a brake job, but since had a Sparta BBK put on last winter. Other mods include BimmerWorld power steering reservoir, AFE intake and MPE V1 (repaired). Car is not perfect has many paint chips, some dings, but worst of all is my trunk lid was keyed. Likely not worth the cost of repair/repainting at this point. Just had windshield replaced. Biggest annoyance has been a stripped oil pan. Happened on first oil change after the bearings were done. Timesert wasn't perfectly installed and started dripping after a while (replaced pan). Getting ready to replace struts/shocks with ZCP units but trying to decide what else to replace while there. During last differential fluid change was discussing having DCT fluid changed, but mechanics suggested not doing it until a leak develops. Transmission supposedly had been worked on while under warranty by previous owner. My oldest kid is turning 13 this fall. I will likely keep the car another couple of years and sell before he starts driving. |

I had picked up a set of used ZCP struts/shocks with about 30k miles on them. Will have to have some coding done after installation. Trying to decide on what other pieces of the front suspension to replace.
Originally was going to get some Ohlins, but in the end couldn't justify the cost. When I bought the car I had hoped to go to one or two track events a year. However, with family responsibilities that hasn't happened. |

09’ E90 closing in on 123k here. She’s been good and feels 95% of what new feels like. Have replaced bearings and a ton of maintenance since I took over ownership at 94k. Even though I plan on adding a Pcar to the mix, I want to keep her. She’s a great daily outside of the gas mileage.

Turner Motorsports Tune and Test Pipes, 200,000+KM e92 M3
Toronto, Ontario, Canada has stopped testing emissions. Yippeeeee...Sooooo........
I installed test pipes (removed the primary catalytics) from Turner Motor Sports, and did the Turner flash/tune. After running an absolute stock car for the last 11 years (I did do the 'cheap' factory exhaust 'opening out' mod at about 170,000 K) It feels like a new car........I've always loved driving this car, but it's like I've renewed my vows.....hahaha. The sound is insane. But only beyond 5k rpm. Otherwise, it's unbelievably tame. Lovin' it..... The power is instant, and more. I may have produced 30 to 40 more HP with the Tune and the Cat deletes, but this bit more is palpable. I'm spinning tires almost at will. The thrill is back. I'd recommend a tune, even on our high mile m3's. Seems safe so far (3k...). Its time to replace my ignition coils finally, I think,....no problems ever, but I've read that their power degrades over time. Any opinions? Last edited by anthonybp; 07-23-2019 at 07:58 PM.. |

BMW Dilawri Dealership, Newmarket, Toronto Canada, M Event....
I just finished attending the BMW Newmarket M Event drive and BBQ in Toronto Canada.
My daughter is an Instagram influencer, and drives her 2018 440i twin turbo M Package, we were invited. I got the chance to drive the new M3 Competition, the M4 Competition, and the M850 Convertible, for extended periods of time. Wonderful event, and well orchestrated. (Still love the e92 M3 better.....the turbos don't inspire me in their power delivery vs NA, and the M8 V8 twin turbo maxes out about 6,500 rpm, and 525 ish HP. Totally not impressed, and the Swarovski Crystal gear shift and dials couldn't make up for it) It was a great experience, finding back roads, and filming my daughter (26 yrs old) doing her thing. I got a chance to do some doughnuts in the M4 competition...... When I figure out how to post pictures, I'll start. I've realized that BMW people are a culture. I met so many multi generational BMW owners, young and old (like me. It was so cool.... I'm more affirmed than ever, that the e9X M engine is special, and fun fun fun........... Congratulations Bro.....That means, with appropriate maintenance, and the original German engineering, we can all expect the same I wonder if anyone has gone further than you.............and what they've done to keep it so.........

I would rather have my car at 170k knowing all maintenance has been done. Opposed to one with 99k a bunch of unknowns. These are the last of true M engine internals. They should see 250-300k miles. I know I’m being presumptuous. But this engine is better compared to the e39 m5. And those go over 300k with all proper services. |

Can any track guys confirm if the diff fatigue I'm feeling is real or imagined? The M Variable Diff seems to have a lot of complaints about being slow to lockup. I can still feel the rear end skating out a bit on hard shifts and acceleration, and can still steer the rear with throttle on track, but I am having a hard time believing it functioned this way from the factory. Everything else feels like a low mileage 2013 that I'd been in: DCT, engine, suspension, etc |

Had my 08 E90 Melbourne red car for just over a year, bought with 99,650 miles on her. She currently sits with 105,450 and getting running strong. Recently got a alpine mss tune, cleaned the filter(macht schnell intake), did oil change and test results were good and then Macht Schnell race cat delete xpipe. Car is super strong now and I am in the process of ordering a new clutch as this car was bought with the intent to track so I want to sure a few things up. Previous owner did bearing at 98k so I have no doubt this car will go for much longer.

It’s not a viscous diff. It’s a GKN viscolok
Clutch diff with viscous shear pump to initiate clutch lock And no you’re probably not imagining things they do wear |

115k miles on my DD and still loving the sound of this engine. Did RBs, throttle actuators, DCT fluid, and a bunch more maintenance (spark plugs next).
Curious to hear other's long term experience with DCT. Mine leaked in several places at 20k before BMW swapped in a replacement. Has been great ever since and I'd love to keep this car forever.
