Remove Surface Scratch From Windshield?
I didn't realize I had a pebble stuck under one of my windshield wipers yesterday and turned them on during a rain shower, and the pebble created what looks like just a surface scratch throughout the wiper's range. It doesn't come out using regular window cleaner, but I've read that it's possible to remove it using a fine polishing compound. Is there a specific product for removing scratches from windshields, or can anybody recommend me a compound that won't scratch up the windshield even more?
Thanks! |

Eastwood makes a kit, and there is a vid of it somewhere on Youtube. But, perform at your own risk. I had some blemishes on my last car and if you can feel the scratch with a fingernail, it may be impossible to buff out. I tested the kit on a junk car I had, and it reduced the scratch a smidge, but left a very fine haze around it. It took hours of polishing and tons of muscle with a power drill. (cordless drill is not going to cut it)
If I had to do it over, I would just buy a new windshield. it is that much of a pain. Here is the link: http://search.eastwood.com/search?as...&p=Q&ts=custom |

Alright thanks guys, I'll debate whether to attempt it myself and perhaps call around to some car glass/bodyshops to see if they could fix it. The car has 5k miles on it so I'm really not ready to get a new windshield just for this. The scratch isn't terrible but I'm pretty OCD about this stuff
