I like some contrast so I'd vote for aluminum. CF leather trim would just be too dark inside, but I do love it. That's why I have Palladium Silver leather with the CF trim.
Cheers.

Carbon leather is the best trim by far - even with my black extended it still has a little contrast.
What does contrast matter? It's about what you like and what looks best, which is CL not that cheap aluminum trim the M5 has...

I like the dark interior of my AW car, so I went with the black leather interior and the Carbon Leather trim
It's all personal preference

Ive got the aluminum trim with black leather. It's doesnt' look cheap at all in my opinion. I've also seen carbon leather trim with black leather. It looks good as well.

The all black blackness of the interior looks sick, and I NEVER liked black interiors before. Almost went silver or red, but sitting in the all black cockpit...Though, I may opt for the real CF soon.

I have the Alum trim, I like it a lot... I wasn't a huge fan of the carbon fiber leather. I think carbon fiber has gotten very played out, but it looks great depending on the color of your interior.
Alum/Black is a great combo. |

On an all black interior, the Carbon Leather is a bit too much black. (I had this on my 06 M roadster and it was pretty dark)
On my 2011 M3, I have a bamboo interior and the carbon leather looks really nice, since there is already a decent amount of contrast with the black dash and the seats. |

Like that, wish I'da know about it.
My only beef with the alum trim, I doesn't "scratch", but it gets a lot of marks that look like scratches... A wet microfiber removes them, but I've had quite a few "oh shit" moments. |

I like the look of aluminum better than CF trim. that's the one compromise I had to make when I got my M3. I didn't want to wait 8 weeks for a custom order car, but my dealer found one in the area with all the same options but it had CF trim instead of aluminum. the CF doesn't have enough contrast with a black interior, IMO. I find it a bit dreary. I preferred the gray poplar trim with the black leather of my 335 to the CF I have now.
