Sadly, I don't have a Combox so this option is not available to me. I bought the ACP so I didn't have to ugprade both to combox and ACP.

You lose navigation voice if you use this work around correct?

Can you share some details? How will this work and still retain sound coming from waze, and other Siri notifications?

Normally with the car systems adapters they provide switched power for the rvc. Does the carplay box provide power for the rvc as well?
This sounds like a great idea for the OE mic. I might just buy a new mic to add to the passenger side.

If the issue is before the AUX line like the DAC, I think you will run into garbage in, garbage no matter how clean the output setup is.
I have spare oem mic lying around if someone can guide me towards what needs to be done I'd by happy to test it.

Mic has a positive and a negative. That's pretty much it.

I just went into "TEL" and enabled Bluetooth Audio for my phone (which I thought I had done already, but oh well), and then from the Main menu, selected CD/Multimedia and selected my iPhone as the external source. From then on, when I switched over to Carplay mode, all sounds from carplay apps came through the bluetooth connection. Essentially, the carplay emulator is just a video feed at that point.

I wonder if you could solder on a new dac?

That's the assumption the DAC is the issue. It's possible the digital out from the module itself is crappy too.

I can't imagine a DAC set to do a high pass filter and only convert the upper frequencies. It definitely sounds like the Digital output might be suffering too. But that's my bullshit guess.

I wonder why they could not make a car play box that just plugged into the most bus.

Through my combox, I can only get audio from my music apps. I don't hear anything from Waze. Is that the case for you as well or are you saying all your apps sound is going through bluetooth now?

That would've made this way more plug n play. If a new one comes out that does this, I'm freaking in!

Someone on the E9x Discord group chat said they would buy one from me if I bought one and played with it. I might pick one up and see if you could solder in a new dac. Does anyone want to pop open their box and take pictures of the PCB?

Siri and voice text seemed to work but I didn't really try Waze over BT yet. Will report back when I use it next.

Tried it this morning on the way to work and I didn't hear anything from Waze either. Waze app on my phone shows the Bluetooth logo and the BMW bluetooth connection as active, so not quite sure why it's not working, but it's a bummer. Audio apps and Siri, voice texting, etc. work though.
