I've always used K&N filters in my cars and I have one in my M3. Never had any issues. Wasn't expecting any power out of a drop in filter, just a little more growl. They are $70 shipped on Amazon. No regrets.

That is not even possible. Anyone who has seen an xpipe before could tell you that shipping would not be $25 including $2,000 insurance.

Is it possible the salesman gave you a deal? Sure.. but no way was the shipping was $25 on our end I can promise you that.

If you would like a custom quote please pm me your zip code and I will try my best to get you the lowest price possible.

Just ordered a K&N filter. I already have the cleaning kit, etc, from years of owning these filters.

Got my MS filter this past Monday at EAS, I can't really tell if it adds to the sound of the engine because all I want to listen to is my stock exhaust they modded for me. Exactly how the car should have came from the factory.

I have been running one for 18 months now. Two used oil analyses showed low silicates so it is filtering just fine. It's half the price of some of the competitors. Just cleaned, oiled it, and threw it back in. Good as new.

edit: 18 months = 18K miles for me

Do your poor engine a favor and change or clean your filter more often! If the top side looked that bad, I can only imagine how bad the bottom side was given it really sucks a lot of dirt up from that lower intake cowl. Probably will pick up 15hp from simply putting a clean filter.

This is the exact example of why some people notice this big difference with an aftermarket filter, however its actually because they let theirs get so dirty that putting any clean filter in would feel like nitrous!

Agree. I also purchased the MS filter. The design and fit/finish of the unit is amazing.

I didn't realize it was so dirty. At least 15k miles on it. It was in the car when I got it. The new filter is much better.

The bottom side probably looks great. If you change one of these filters and study the intake box, you will see how debris collects on the top, but falls off on the sides and does not collect on the bottom. And as air filters go, the used stock one in the picture is not bad or clogged up enough to cost 15 hp.

The top is the clean part! The bottom of the filter it was grimy. I'd say 15-20% of the filter was blocked.

Obviously, it sounds better and is a little more responsive. I'm not saying it's because of a K&N filter but a filter that is not clogged.

He's right, the bottom is down right nasty. A leaf or two may get stuck in the top, blocking a pleat or two, but the bottom gets the brunt of the road grime straight from the duct in the front.
