i think the group instruction was worth it. it was like 20 bucks i think.
just to learn the lines and have a better sense of the track. private instruction i think was over priced

Yeah I was surprised why you had to pay $75.... I only paid I think $20 when I signed up?
I was going to say something but you just kind of handed the cash over before I even figured out what was going on lol

I'm thinking Persian54's got something lined up w/ the organizer... >=)

Seriously, though, even $20 would've been a total waste of money. That initial group run following the organizer car around the track a few laps is good enough to sort of learn the track.

Yup I do!
Getting us our own session!!! and BBQ too

Honestly, if you were able to have a run with an instructor the whole day, I can understand the 70... but for 1 run it's pretty expensive...

But yeah.. whenever it comes to spending money just confirm with me haha!
I don't have 130 iTrader just out of the blue you know...

but I don't think just following them is perfect in getting to know the track

My best lap time after he helped me

he told me "turn in. out. middle. gas. brake" etc

But i had the most fun just tearing through the track myself

well in that case, I shouldn't track till I can afford a new set of tires and pads then.

Well look at it this way:

I'm at 4200 miles, and before I hit 10k, I will prly need new pads, and 100% new rear tires, if not front as well.

I got my car Dec 2010.

Tracked it twice so far

so from just your driving style, how much tread/pad have you burned away in one track session? how long is one track session? how many laps does that consist of?

As Persian54 implied, it depends on you, the track, the tires, etc.

But, generally speaking, I've heard 5 or 6 track days on new set of tires. YMMV.

As for pads, not sure if you're a beginner, but beginners won't be driving hard, so pad wear shouldn't be too big of an issue - especially if you don't trail brake (i.e. if you're not in the habit of riding the brake for 100 yards before reaching the turns).

Each session was about.. 20 to 25 min's, which was good for about 5 laps. And, we did 4 sessions.

There you go.

can't track a car I didn't even get yet lol.
the est. shipment arrival is on may4th (my bday lol)
then another week till it gets to the dealer maybe.
then I'll have 3-4 days to run 1200 miles and get the 1200 mile service
then get a clear bra and a helmet all before that... dunno. seems a bit tight if you ask me.

plus I can't run my sti, cuz this engine is made of glass.

worse comes to worst, I'll just come out and watch

Heh, if you've been on m3post.com or a while, you'll find that most of the forum members are so anal that they won't even let their wives/gf's/significant-others drive their M3's nor allow any food or drinks in the car, lulz.

but to be completely honest... canyon driving and tracking are 2 completely different experiences

I have been canyon-ing since I was 16
but this is way more fun and exhilarating, and difficult too
