KIA has poached another one!

https://carbuzz.com/news/former-bmw-...-of-kia-design

This is intriguing, since this talented gentleman whom they hired was the lead designer in the 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept. I will be very much interested in what KIA will come out with now that they have Albert Bierman and Won Kyu Kang.

Interesting indeed. They’ve continued to impress me with their Kia/hyundai/genesis offerings. Imagine if we all started switching....

Yes, there's been a number of KIA's I see that now resemble BMW's.

They're even copying that side of the car M-vent on the KIA 's.

But KIA is copying the old BMW that actually used good designs. I never thought I would say this but if BMW doesn't change, I might be buying a KIA instead of a BMW next time.

I've looked at the K5. Still not all that impressed with Kia, but I can appreciate the direction they are headed. The K5 to me seems like it's a mosh-up of top tier brands sport sedans. Almost like they took design details of most cars an incorporated all of them into one car. I'll be interested to see where they end up in the next 10 years.

Yep, I have a feeling a lot of it is because Hyundai is giving them a large amount of creative freedoms that BMW and the Germans (there are also employees with Hyundai from VAG there too) were giving them.

Dude you guys need to see the new genesis models, esp the new suv that’s coming out.

These Korean cars are looking great these days. I’m proud of my motherland. Yet I love German cars haha

As long as they can keep the quality up, and keep backing it up with that great warranty, this is the direction I want to see. Fun, fast and affordable and reliable.

If the South Koreans can deliver quality products with features and performance similar to BMW and Mercedes, they will gain and the Germans will lose.

Mercedes is particularly vulnerable because of their widespread and severe quality and reliability issues across their model range, across most of the past decade.

I would say both Mercedes and BMW are at risk. merc, as you say, because of their longstanding reliability problems. BMW because of horrific modern design.

Fully agree. BMWs quality, while better, is still lagging.
