Bought the VF595 Supercharger

Bit the bullet and bought the VF595 kit, I’m waiting very anxiously for an update of when it will be shipped. I will update with pictures on install and a review of the difference when its all done, I will also be running the kit with the AFD flexfuel kit on maybe 2-3 Gallons of E85 on 91Oct and see what happens. I’ve searched for some Dyno #’s on this kit and not that much info on it, anybody else running this kit and have some Dyno #’s that would like to share.

From ESS ? I was gonna go that route, but I’ve seen many posts with horror stories from them and the VF620 I don’t think 25hp more is worth another G. So far VF has been on top of it.

It is the intercooled 595 system, I’m in TX where it gets up to 110-115 in summer.

Just a quick update on the install, instructions are kind of vague but its an easy install over all, just time consuming.

What a b!7ch it is to install the S/C and line everything up, 90% done just need to install the Intercooler, route hoses, fill up with coolant, change the oil, load map and done.

Congrats on the SC.. As far as living in Texas it gets HOT. I lived there for a few months when I had an EVO X and it hated that heat. I would look into meth or an Icetank. I went with an Icetank and it makes a big difference with my IAT's. Enjoy your faster M!

Well installation and everything went well, car is running great and it feels like a total different animal even tho I have’t stepped on it yet. In the instructions it really doesn’t say that the S/C needs a break in period, I just want to drive it normal for at least 100 miles before I go wot.

Its been great! drives like stock but a completely different animal when you’re over 4k rpm, I have no traction on 1st and 2nd but its all good. I’m trying to go full E85 with bigger injectors and a custom tune from RK tunes. The kit is pretty solid and straight forward install other than a few minor modifications but easy install with basic tools, highly recommend to go the S/C route.

The ESS 625, I hear, has a loud ticking/grinding noise when the car is idling. Some describe it as sounding like the car is broken. The ESS G1 supposedly eliminates this problem. What's the noise of the VF SC at idle like? Are you hearing it in the cabin?

ESS G1 kit was out of stock when I was in the market and I’ve heard very good things about VF. VF customer service was quick to sent the tune and answer Q’s on the kit when I was installing it. The ESS 625 has the same Vortech V3-Si S/C and it does sound like a whistling/cog noise inside and out of the car.

The G1 sounds exactly like that. Almost an offbeat grinding noise with no perceptible whistle. I thought mine had issues at first, but that's just how it sounds. Quieter than the Vortech units, but I haven't heard one in person, only the noise comparison video EAS put out.

G-Power here.
The pump (12 years old) has sounded like a box of rocks since new, but only at idle.
I don't notice it from the cockpit though.
Sometime after my kit was produced, ASA revised the design which added a clutch to the pump which quiets the idling rattle.

Just a little update on the S/C, bought the AFD Pro system and I’ve been running up to 50% e85 and car is running great. I’m planning on doing a dyno to see some numbers on it and check for fuel trims on it, also got the Tial bov and it sounds amazing, haven’t had any issues while driving like some people state that car might hesitate or buck under driving conditions. I will update with some dyno #’s when schedule the session.

Went with a smaller pulley(ESS 96.5mm)that I bought from a fellow member and what a biyotch it is to install on the VF kit. I had to remove quite a few things but not the entire S/C and pulley just slid off with zero effort. Let see if there is any difference from the 99mm pulley.
