Metallic grinding noise on startup

So, on and off my car's been making strange metallic grinding noises on startup (once every 3 cold starts for last 9 months or so), once it's warm it's all good, any ideas? I only use the car about 2/3 times a month (so 2k-3k miles per year).

Here's two videos, one where it's cold and making the strange noise, and the other once it's warmed up and all good.

2008 E92 M3, no mods 70k miles.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a scraping noise . Probably it comes from a belt or wear from a pulley axle .

1- Someone with S65 mechanical knowledge should go listen under the car while the engine makes the scraping noise .

2- Trace the source first from where the noise comes from . I would begin from there .

Had the exact same noise, it's your belt tensioner and idler pulley. $400~$600 fix. Don't do what I did any wait, I ended up destroying a tensioner, and idle pulley and burned up a belt. It flung molten plastic from a burned up belt all over my engine bay. Took way longer to clean that shit up.
