Unofficial "What does this button do?" thread

First and foremost, my apologies for the stupid question(s).

Now that's over and done with, what does that rocker switch on the top of my seats do? It's by the handle to raise the front seat for access to the back and seems to do nothing at all. I even looked in the manual, it's apparently to move the seat back and forward but that doesn't happen

And since you're viewing, are both my side-view mirrors supposed to dip when I put the vehicle into reverse or only the passenger side?

Thanks in advance

Rocker switch moves the seat forward and back might have to lean the seat forward for it to work.

I'm not 100% sure that we're talking about the same thing, but there is a rocker on the passenger side seat. It moves the seat back and forth but only if the passenger side door is open. I use that a lot when I have to put my daughter in her car seat.

Post a pic.

It seems to have stopped altogether, according to the manual the mirror adjustment switch has to be on the driver's side mirror for it to dip so will switch it over and see if that helps.

try it with door open. It should work. I had to hold it in for a second, but then it was pretty responsive back and forth. I never noticed it on the driver side before.

The passenger mirror only dips in reverse if the mirror select switch is set to the driver side position.

seat has to be folded forward if door is shut. If door is open, should work either way.

Got it.

Thanks to everybody who posted, especially ThunderMoose who made me get up and walk to the car not once but twice on my day off

Edit: Almost forgot, I found a button inside the centre console which can be flipped from I to O; any ideas?!

Cup cooler. How old is your car? This feature was dropped a year or two ago, my '11 doesn't have it but my '08 did.

I kept one of those short airline water bottles in mine all the time. Anytime I wanted a cold sip of water there it was, not sure how this equates to being a gimmick and sucking. Now I could see where it wouldn't be very practical if you were attempting to cool a magnum or make ice cubes with it but it did what it was designed to and you didn't have to use it if you didn't want to so you didn't give anything up. I'd just as soon have it back.

Ive had that cup cooler in some of my other cars (07 335) and if i forgot to turn it off and put my wallet in there it would make my money soggy from the condensation
