23,000 on Pilot Sport PS2

I was really hoping to make it to 25K, but the cords came through on the rear right. Getting the new sneakers put on today.

Last 8K the tires were basically auto-x slicks... it was a handful, but def. fun to drive.

That's pretty good, how hard have you driven on them?

I am a couple hundred miles shy of 25K. I will be ordering the Vredestein Sessanta's soon. I hope the 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 won't stick out pass the fenders because I have the 18mm front and 15mm rear spacers.

ok, I'm really curious what the average life on the PS2's are.

I'm new to all the tire stuff, but on some research I did I was under the impression that since these were "high performance tires" that the tread life was about 10,000 to 15,000 miles.

My rears are almost gone, I'm not sure how much they have but it can't be more than a handful of milimeters, but I only have 12,500 miles on them. The car is my daily driver, and I did go to my first and only track weekend class with this car, but can't imagine it would lower the tread life by nearly 10,000 miles.

I guess I'm wondering what ppl's thoughts are on my situation, and what the average life is people are seeing.

a 10mm wider tire only protrudes 5mm, or about 1/5" more, and Vreds are very slightly narrower than PS2s, so that should not be an issue. Supply on the Vreds is tight lately with all the RAC wheel orders, so get them early.

I'm at 18k miles and have an acceptable amount of tread left...probably going to replace the tires at 20-22k

I have no idea how people get 25k out of these things. I haven't even done any track or autocross events and my rears are basically gone after 10-12k or so. I do drive like an asshat from time to time - conditions permitting of course ; )

I'm at about 17K on my stock PS2's.. The fronts are still good and the rears still have a few K's left in them. Been to 1 track day event on them too.

I drive in a 'spirited' fashion on mine. At 12K had a huge amount of tread life.

I got 24k on mine, that was with 1 track day at California Speedway and 1 AutoX. There is no reason why you should not get close to 20k. The front still had 5-6k left but I decided to switch all four at the same time since I went with Nitto NT05. Alignment may play a part in life of tire as well, don't quote me on that. I had my car realigned after I removed the alignment pin on the front shock tower at around 6-7k miles.

...HUGE AMOUNT? That's pretty impressive.

You guys with over 15k on this rubber are pretty lucky. How is this achieved without always "tiptoeing" around? ...With only two canyon runs and two track days I was forced to renew the rubber at ~10,200 mi.

Track can chew them up fast.

I'm at 19k and it looks like I got about 5k left of tread on there. Still don't know what I'm going to replace them with. Could be Vreds or maybe RE-11s.

On a side note, did anyone ever notice that the outer tread blocks on the PS2 vary in size? It looks like it goes progressively large to small as you work your way around the tire and repeats about 3-4 times. Anyone know why that is?

I think that reduces noise. If the blocks are all an even size they can set up harmonics at speed.

It's impossible to estimate tread life in miles. Will all depend on how you drive, tyre pressure, weather, etc... Can be 100 miles, maybe 10000 or 20000.

Now that I've moved to a place where I don't have to worry about winter and the roads are smooth, I'm confident I'll get a couple 1,000 more out of these tires than I originally thought.

Or at the least I don't think I need to replace them as soon as I thought.

I had 10,000 miles on mine and they had a lot of meat left... except the rear outer edges from the track weekend. The fronts were OK since I have -2 camber dialed in.
I think getting an alignment helps and ask for 0 toe front and rear.

On my stock PS2s I got 23-24K miles with a track weekend and 3x auto-x. I now have white threads starting to show on the rear tires.
I'm driving around my beater until I can find the willpower to drop $1,200 on new PS2s. Loved them so much I'm going with them again.
