AA(or any other) x-pipe and exhaust smell

Hey,

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a catless setup with a tune and wanted to get a feel for just how bad the exhaust smell is running this setup. I'm all for it as long as there's no cabin intrusion and really don't care if the people driving behind me have to bear the brunt of it. I know, it's not eco-friendly, but my DD is a Honda FIT (35 mpg highway, ULEV) so I don't really feel so bad emitting a little CO2/other pollutants on the weekends

So I'd like to get people's impressions. How is it driving with windows down? Windows up? Is it noticable at all inside the cabin? If so I'll go catted, if not then game on for catless

Thanks,

Ryan

I just recently swapped my AA x-pipe high flow cats out for the catless section, and I will be switching back today. My wife and I drove my car the other day, and when I parked in the garage, she asked if I had spilled gas in the garage that day! It was very bad. It actually smelled like raw gasoline. If you are at a stoplight, with the windows down, you can't NOT notice the smell. I have also been getting headeaches the last couple of days, so it is bye bye to the catless section for me. If you have the AA pipes, I can sell you my catless section. Let me know.

No complaints at all with the cat-less AA x-pipe. No smell at stoplights at all as mentioned above.

You must have a bad sniffer. Without cats, there should be a very strong smell.

** I know what you mean about the "yellow" buildup. Its a pain to clean but a local hand car wash place has some special spray they put on it and they get it off quite easy **

Im catless also.

YES there is a smell but you only smell it at a stop if the wind is blowing towards you and your windows are open.

I personally like the smell . It reminds me of being at a track and also Im used to that smell from riding racebikes . If someone is sensitive to certain smells I can understand it bothering you just like certain perfumes get me sick and doesnt affect others.

As far as the garage... thats when you smell it most since its a confined area so when I park my car I dont let it run long inside.

We also have our factory cat option. You will need to weld to your factory cat (see pictures).

This kit includes our entire X pipe & Connecting Pipe exhaust upgrade, note: front connecting pipes are shorter (stubby).

We have a few sets in stock and ready to ship.

Been running catless for sometime now, when you let the car sit in a garage you can smell it but driving normally, I don't notice it.

I never let my car sit in my garage running. I just pull it in, turn it off, and then close the garage. It gets really strong smelling. Wya too much for me. It is a bimmer for christ's sake, it should not smell!

Okay fine let me rephrase:

"I'm extremely concerned that the soccer mom behind me in the Dodge Caravan might be bothered by the smell of my exhaust so I'll just sacrifice the hp/tq gains and glorious sound of remus race + catless x-pipe out of consideration for her and her kids and keep the stock setup instead"

Do I sound like nicer guy now!?

How much torque/hp are you gonna gain from running catless rather than with cats?
