A local car guy just picked up one with 120k miles, he is brave.
The car didn't really have any service history aside oil changes. And he is already modding the car, so lets see how long this last. |

He's smart. The high mileage ones are usually clear of all the engine issues, and since we have engines/transmissions on here with 260K+ miles, I'd say he has very little to worry about.

Just hit 130K tonight! Had her for about 9K miles and I'm loving it so far.

Finally at 204,094 miles my Oil level sensor goes out, along with my ABS and Stability Control Error coming on. The car did not go into any limp mode or anything but the rear end seemed to sway left to right.
Parts replaced: Oil Level Sensor 12-61-7-607-910 Pulse Generator (aka Speed sensor) 34-52-6-870-077 Angular Ball Bearing 33-40-6-775-842 Lock Ring 07-11-9-934-755 Drive Flange Hub 33-41-2-283-020 Collar Nut 33-41-1-133-785 Back on the road. It's pretty remarkable that it took 204k miles for these parts to give up the ghost which speaks to the reliability of E9X M's.

These cars are very dependable. Yes maintenance on some exclusive M3 items can be a little pricey when needed, but the car is robust throughout. YEARS of experience building the 3 Series and it has been continuously in the top ten of best cars every year for decades. The sum of all that experience and engineering is undeniable. My sister had a 2002ti, my Mother a 320i, Father a 528i amd 530i. Me a 325e, 328xi, and now my M3. |

39,000 miles and getting O2 errors according to my cheapy bluetooth scanner. Looks like both O2 sensors may need changing. The display shows the car on lifts at startup. Hoping it was a gas cap issue but it's been 2 weeks and its not going away. The sensors dont look cheap even if Bosch and not OEM. Will prob just take it to my BMW guy.

Car is on original bearings, but after a DCT tune the car started throwing TVA codes.
I'm pulling both of them now to crack them open and take a look. I'll be replacing them with upgraded OEM TVAs since this my M3 is a 100% track car now. |

08 94k 2nd owner bought at 71k and doing 5k oci. Bad bearing tick, engine seized and motor is being rebuilt at AutoTalent right now. Should be done by the 3rd of Jan. Blackstone my oil 3 times prior to failure and no sign of excessive wear. Always used Castrol 10-60 BMW oil but now when I get the car back i'm switching to lick molly. Unfortunate big headache. Haven't had my car since July 3rd. Feel free to ask questions ill try and answer them.
