Help - fix a deep scratch
Yesterday a piece of metal came off a car next to me and hit my rim and right front panel under the M3 logo/turn signal light and left a 6 inch long, deep scratch on the body.
I would appreciate any ideas to fix this besides painting the side of the car. I have a Jerez Black 2010 model. Thank you! |

Bump for a similar situation.

You could try some McGuires scratch remover and see if that will reduce it a bit. If it is too deep you will need to get it touched up or repainted.

Need better pics but that looks like it can be buffed out. Use a Cutter or Cleaner wax to smooth and fill the gaps.
If it is still too visable, that can definately be wet sanded and then buffed out without repainting.

Try scratch x 2.0 by hand. If you have a buffer, there are a variety of products you could try. If it is deep, you may need to wet sand it.

I agree that looks like its on the surface and should buff out fine. Go to a good detailer or if you have a random orbit polisher do it your self. I think meguiars 105 and 205 will easily do the trick.

1)Fill with touch-up paint till it is slightly above the level of the surrounding paint and allow to cure for at least 12 hrs.
2)Level out the paint with a Meguiars (or similar) 2000 Grit sanding block till area is completely flat and scratch is still full of paint. 3)Polish the area to remove the sanding marks from the sanding block. * Please don't attempt this if you are not familiar with polishing/paint correction. It is easy to break through the clear and make the scratch look even worse than it is now. |
