Glad you're enjoying it. The Evo is about as mellow as it gets for a full exhaust. Very bassy (not drone) that is more obvious in enclosed spaces like a garage. Personally, I have the most fun goosing it going through garages and tunnels, otherwise you don't get to hear all the goods.

I heard the ESS system as well and it sounds awesome. I might have to switch it up soon.

Double check the install too just in case, a leak or something loose can amplify drone and cause the exhaust to be louder than it should.

Let me first say that I have had 9 exhaust combinations on my car in 18 months.

It's not the x-pipe that is the problem, it's the axleback. The Akra system is quiet but you are right, the bassy note down low can be disturbing. Not to mention, a short resonator isn't going to cancel out those long wavelengths. AND, you won't find titanium resonators or someone to weld them.

I had this problem with the two Gintani axlebacks (sport and hybrid) I had. Volume-wise, they were very similar to my Dinan through the rev range, very reasonable. Except down low. The Gintani exhausts both had a very bassy sound down low. They were disturbingly loud cruising through parking lots but very mellow at high revs (4K+). My Dinan gets louder as the revs increase, as it should, with no bassy note down low.

My suggestion to you is to (at least) get a different axleback. That's a pain since you need adapters to run the Akra x-pipe with a different axleback.

OP, do you have a tune to delete the start up cycle? It's WAY better with the start up cycle deleted.

He's 50 posts ahead with only about 100 to go but it's late East Coast time so just pull all-nighter in the OT forum and you can break it early tomorrow morning no problem.

I like it too, but my neighbors don't. OP's in a parking structure and it must set off some alarms.
