In the meantime I may hop in my buddy's FR-S that has some on it already and take it for a spin at one of the next local events and see how I like them.

I almost forgot to mention Nankang also has a Brand-New 200tw tire, the CR-1, that is looking promising and will offer a 275, 295, and 315 size. A few small retailers are taking pre-orders on them for November/December as well. On a 10.5/11 stagger I'm liking the 295/315 A052 option or a 305/315 Rt660 option. Maybe also look at 285 square RS4's on those wheels.

Some have said the Rival S is "too soft" for a big heavy car like an M3 or Corvette, but I think those people have never even used said tire. Quite honestly, if Toyo wasn't a partner with NASA (contingency), I would probably go back to the Rival S. The biggest issue I see with the Rival S is that the A052 exists, though not for my sizes.

The only people I know using Rivals are those that need the little 15" sizes they sell or giant 335/18's for their Amercian V8's. lol I would be interested in the 275's, but there's also so many options in 275's that I prefer to where they're not really worth it price wise when the Bridgestones and Goodyears etc are cheaper.

I'll never run R888R again, NT01 seems pointless given that the RR is available, and obviously the purple crack is in a class of its own. The Rival is really the only streetable tire of that group.

Tall sidewall. Looks out of place but I’m sure there’s a good reason for it and looks aren’t everything.

I had an odd thing happen with the Carbotech XP20 pads on a rainy track day after it dried up. When the pads got hot after several hot laps, it felt like there were pad deposits on the rotors. After the rotors cooled, it was back to being perfectly smooth. The only other thing I could think of is ABS activations but I haven’t been able to check.
Even with all the extra precautions of wearing masks and gloves when going out, changing into clean clothes when coming home, only getting groceries delivered, and occasional food takeout, I somehow caught the coronavirus. I’m 4 days in since my first symptoms and the worst part is the never-ending headache which is only getting worse by the day. It makes it really tiring to do anything. Do whatever you can to avoid this virus. Stay safe and healthy. |

This will change the aerodynamic rake of the car a bit, by the way. Quote:

What is the typical oil change interval for track days? I swear I’ve seen a thread about this topic before. But somehow I can’t seem to find it.
Anyways, I changed my oil back in April this year. I’ve only put about 4000km including two track days on the car since. Just signed up for two more track days, one in September and one October. Should I do another oil change now or I’m good for two more track days? I only drive the car on weekends, so between now and October I’ll probably only put another 2000km on it. Then I’ll likely park it for the winter and do an oil change in the next Spring. |

It's probably fine to just do it again in April. The car has a huge sump and the 10w60 oil is very stout. I used to do it once a year which was around 7500 miles and maybe 6-8 track days. Never had any issues on the analysis reports -- stayed in grade, negligible fuel dilution, and wear metals held constant.

Cool, I've been about the same. Every 6-8 hours of seat time on track, which is at 3-4 HPDEs. Used to do it less often but I also was driving the car much more softly then now. Having a motor go ka-boom on me also makes me more cautious now..
