I found this link here https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1494154
Is this what you guys use? And then do you just hook it up to a laptop and perform DCT fluid change procedure following specific steps?

Yup its exactly that software.

Enet cable won't work on for our E9x cars.

You need one of these cables: https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...eeks-pro-cable
and have it setup to be able to run on the software.

Can you please record a full DIY on this? Especially if you are replacing the side pan gasket

Yes you can, but I didn't bother readapting.
The DCT is known to be weird but don't worry its a bulletproof transmission as long as you are not using launch control and supercharging your car.
I've seen DCT cars with near 100,000 miles and virtually they work the same since day one, just as jerky and leaky.

You just basically need a torx wrench that is slim enough to reach the top bolts. You just basically make your own tools. It's an m6 head, and it doesn't require much torque to crank it out.

Sorry there's no way I can make a DIY on this. I've already had it done on the car with a help of a mechanic friend and I don't plan on doing it again unless it leaks!
Anyone who is handy with their tools can be able to do this.

My car has just catless exhaust. Not planning to supercharge at all but might use launch control in the near future for the first time. It has 81k miles though. When i say its acting weird is that apart from normal clunks i experience some weird stuff once in a while. For example yesterday on the way home from work i played around on the highway a little bit in M-Mode but then faced traffic on the exit ramp. I did not turn it back to normal mode and car was in S5 when i was stationary. I tapped a gas pedal to start kreeping forward and instead of normal engamenet the whole drive train experienced a shock and i felt like someone hit me from the back. I mean it was no longer a clunk - it was a hit and it definitely felt like i am hurting the car. Sometimes in slow traffic i start to hear a cowbell sound but that rare, usually its just a clunk. Sometimes when i downshift, it downshifts with a noticable delay. But what i described with a "hit" instead of normal engagement starts to happen more frequently even in normal mode D2 or D3. So this weird behaviour and the fact that my side pan is leaking a little bit makes me want to spend some money on my transmission service and i would like to DIY because i have access to the lift. When i asked about recording a DIY, i asked that other guy to do it because he is planning to do it in the near future. Thank you for the reply!

Hmmm I wouldn't use launch control often or at all to be honest, I haven't used it ever since I've owned it and previously owned my 135i DCT. The problems you might be experiencing could possibly be easily fixed by a fluid change and software re-adaptation. With that kinda mileage it's in best interest you have the fluids changed out if it hasn't been done before.

By the way, do you happen to know part number for DCT side pan gasket?

I know you mentioned any generic small torx bit would work but can you share an picture of actual too you used to reach top bolts to get mechatronic unit cover gasket out. I don't want to end up dropping the transmission to reach top bolts

Is it possible to overfill the transmission? How do you know you got enough fluid in there? And the last one: what can you mess up while doing this job and what would be the worst scenario if you make a mistake?

there is no way you can overfill the transmission unless you take out the transmission and you fill it side ways. You can barley add enough fluid from fill point. Pretty sure many DIY'ers are not able to add enough fluid to meet the recommendation.

Does this kit contain everything needed to perform the service? If you say, it is hard to fill it enough, can use of some pressure filler help filling it correctly?
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...QaAmB_EALw_wcB

Also, for mechatronic side gasket, is this all is needed? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/28607842856/

Or do I need the cover as well?

The DIY is very straightforward.
Unscrew the drain bolt, it's a HEX 10mm I THINK
Unbolt the torx bolts and let the pan drop
-TIP- unbolt a set of torx bolts so that when you loosen the pan, it's at an angle to let residual fluid drain out. Slowly release more torx bolts until most of the fluid is drained out from the pan. This can save yourself from getting very messy.

While you're in there, might as well change the DCT filter. My thread has the procedure, and I used another member's DIY for the fluid adjustment.

The gasket is #2 is what you'll need. But this is a huge job and requires you to drop the DCT. According to TIS, you must use ISTA for this procedure. Even me having ISTA, I didn't even want to tackle this unless absolutely necessary.

Well i was told that my side gasket is leaking and needs attention so i figured it would be good to change both filters, fluid and that gasket. I wasalso told that you dont need to drop the tranny, just remove the heat shield and that gives you enough room to work

I read somewhere you need to lower it and tilt it as much as possible, but it's very tight.

GORDON.M3 in his post above, he was able to remove the side gasket without dropping the transmission

I also have slight leak from the side gasket but I am still debating whether to tackle it myself or just live with it since it is not easy to do as the pan gasket.
