New Essex educational article: Do I need brake ducts on my track car?

Hello Gents,

We just finished up an article we thought you might enjoy. It examines the installation of brake ducts on road cars being run on the track. We're hopeful that it will save you some time, money, and headaches. Thanks for looking!

Excellent article! Very timely for me as well - been considering whether or not to add brake ducts to my setup on the E92 M3. I have not done so yet - have not experienced any fade in hard paced sprint races to this point. Been considering them though to see how they would affect pad & rotor life. Just do not want to potentially negatively affect performance since I have no issues there.

Thanks! If you're not currently having problems, throwing ducts in the mix is only a source of potential issues. You would be introducing quite a few moving pieces. I'd steer clear unless you have plenty of data and a good plan for implementing them.

Fantastic read. I recommend anyone that has tracked their car to read this before adding cooling ducts.

Keep up the great work Essex!
