Leather care

Summer is starting in California and the leather in my e92 m3 is starting to smell pretty bad. What leather care do you guys recommend that isn't that expensive.

leather....smelling bad? How is this even possible?

OP grab up some sonax leather foam or if you're in their area, stop by Chemical Guys. If you're leather is smelling I think you just need some help with basic maintenance

I recently ordered leatherique. Probably smells bad because i've never actually detailed the leather lol only the exterior. Meguiars leather wipes don't really work well.

I have Meg's Ult Leather Spray/ Cond. and it just makes the leather shiny and slick. Pretty much sucks....

I've used a fair few products of varying price. Of the most expensive I've used Swissvax & AMMO (Both excellent products, gives the results you'd want and expect). Towards, the cheaper end, I've used Sonax Foam, Chemical guys interior leather (cheaper and easier to apply, wipe on, wipe off).

GL with the Leatherique. Only reason why I haven't done it is because of the time associated with it. My M3 is my DD and can't let it sit in the sun for 3 days.

Time associated with it? seems pretty quick

No, it takes a bit. It's really thick and sticky so you have to be careful applying it. It also needs to "bake" into the leather when it's hot outside, so you effectively are applying it and then waiting several hours. It's not a wipe-on/wipe-off kind of thing.

I treat Leatherique as an atom-bomb sort of product. I use it once a year.

What do you mean by 'careful applying it'? You can apply it with your hands, its very simple. It is safe on many surfaces not just leather. Its awesome stuff.

It's just messy as hell. I try to avoid any smudges on the plastic since it's a bitch to clean off.

The Rejuvenator oil feeds the plastic, and rubber as well .
My pics above in my thread (link) actually shows it .

Try the sonax leather foam first, but yes eventually you'll want a deep cleaning with the learherique lineup

So first let the car get hot, then when applying each step do you let them sit for a couple days each or wipe off immediately.
thanks

I let it sit for a few hours. I roll the windows up and park it directly in the sun so the interior gets as hot as possible.

1. Clean with hot water and Lexol leather cleaner with a leather brush.. Super soft bristols
2. dry using microfiber towels.
3. condition with Lexol leather conditioner and buff with microfiber towel.

As needed really...or if I'm bored and just feel like going deep on the car. Maybe a couple of times during the winter and a few times during warmer months. I vacuum the entire interior often. It's not my daily.

I just used leatherique on my car and it isn't as much work as people say it is. First i let the car get a little hot, then applied rejuvenating oil to every single piece of leather in my car(with gloves). Then i closed the doors and let it sit for a good 3 hours in the sun *every piece of plastic will be sticky as well as windows..Sprayed pristine clean all over and rubbed with the brush they give you. As my first impressions i freaking love this stuff. I had to rinse the brush every minute because of all the dirt is was picking up. Wiped everything off with multiple clean towels because they got dirty so fast. My car actually looks brand new and smells great! 10/10 buying again and will re-apply sometime this year.

I agree that leatherique is amazing but it is also very messy. I used it once and had great result but I don't want to repeat the same process again. It is labor intensive plus it gets really messy. I want to try leather master since I heard a lot of great feedback about it.

I've used leather masters for a few years with excellent results . I think the key (and likely the same for other products) is using a brush. I have a bottle of leatherique that I'm hopping to try out this weekend as I've gotten lazy in my cleaning and need a deep clean.

I bought my 16oz kit off amazon, that comes with sprayer and brush. One this i messed up on is not using enough! If your doing the whole car make sure to use all of the 16oz rejuvenate.(multiple coats could help) Pristine clean is simply to wipe down all of the sticky gross dirt afterwards(more is better).
Make sure the car is hot and GL
