Carmine’s in Kernersville maybe. Korman might be able to help. There’s a place in Raleigh called - I think - Bimmer Performance Center that gets good reviews. I know they do rod bearings bc I got a quote from them awhile back. https://bimmerperformancecenter.com

A little bit of a pain to drop the car off in Raleigh but as I recall Korman’s couldn’t get to it and I didn’t ask Carmine’s so you may have to take it to Raleigh.

Thank you! Does Carmine's potentially do the OEM exhaust mod?

Not sure. You'll have to give them a shout.

Found a good shop with a very experienced welder who is going to do it tomorrow in Greensboro.. closer to my office. Took some driving around and most people were like "you want to do what to your muffler"..

Where's the shop? Would be a good one to know about.

I'm currently looking for an e90 or e92 M3 and may want to have some exhaust work done once I find the right car.

Champion Automotive, on West gate City Blvd. took me a long time to find someone who would do it, but after referrals pointing me to them, they have been great. I was told they have 25+ years experience, very skilled welding, and when j dropped it off, he showed me the custom exhaust they did for an Audi R8.. and they do a lot of custom exhausts. They've never done an OEM exhaust mod on an E90, but given their experience, it shouldn't be a problem. I'll post a video and update this evening when I pick it up.

Cool. Thanks.

On a separate but related note, I got a quote this morning from Performance Bimmer in Raleigh for rod bearings and new motor mounts (they say they are typically shot when they go in to do the bearings and they're right there anyway) when doing the RB's.

$3100.

I wanted to go ahead and get the price from them because that's going to be the first thing I get done.

Not sure about Motor Mount cost, maybe it's the difference here, but I got a quote from Motorsport Connections for $2,200 for RBs using the recommended bearings and bolts I read about here.. They didn't mention mounts, so not sure if they assumed they were ok... good to know though so I can ask.

Man. I'm glad you told me that. The motor mounts are like $250 so Performance Bimmer is still a lot higher than the shop you're talking about.

Thanks for letting me know that.

Any idea of the specifics with the bolts and bearings they quoted you? Like brand, etc.? I want to compare what Performance Bimmer is offering with the one you have shared.

Gotta find a car first, though! Just sold my 2009 911 C4S (literally yesterday) to free up the funds for an e92 M3 or an e90 M3...now I've gotta find the right car before I worry about rod bearings.

Thanks again.

BE Bearings ARP bolts, which I requested for the quote.. after reading on here, seems those were the best, so that's what I told them to use.. Motorsports is very fair, so maybe they are below market? or Bimmer is being a little high and waiting for a counter?

I haven’t been to any events yet but there is a dinner and drinks thing on Nov 6th at Macs Speed Shop on Battleground in GSO:

https://www.facebook.com/events/2232416353466145/?ti=icl

I am going to try to make this one.

Believe it or not, but I am flying up to CT to evaluate/buy a 2013 M3 6MT competition on November 1st and plan on driving it home. I am planning on taking a leisurely route back (through Gettysburg, PA) and want to make it back in time to hit that event on the 6th.

Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh. They're a bit more expensive but they have the have the rod bearing job down as they do at least 1 per week, maybe even more than that. It's like an oil change to them.
