Those TE37's also look great on the CTR!

The 285/30/19 Cup2's are the Corvette run-flat (RF) spec which are only available in the 285 and 335 sizes. They not compatible with the regular Cup2's. I've been going round and round trying to get a better set of tires than the P4S. My only concern is the 295/30/19 may be too big for the track (they are fine for the street on my current Supersports).

Check out Sonic MS for $2k + tax, that's where I'm planning to go.

All good! I think we all agree that the E9x M3 is a better car than the CTR.

But on the street, it should be an entertaining car. The ride is also supposed to be very comfortable.
the guys who are overheating the car is a small percentage of the track guys. The ones who are pushing the car 10/10 in temps greater than 80 degrees. And to be honest most of them are perfectly fine with upgrading the oil cooler and radiator to fix those issues. In a way its similar to those guys who were overheating their e92 and e46's as well. The casual track day goers didnt have any issues, and the ones pushing the snot out of theirs saw temps creep up.

E92 is a fairly hot car averaging 120C engine temp on Suzuka, but I always see CTRs and Subarus having to cool down much sooner while E92 can attack for the full session.

Makes sense, NA vs. FI.

BTW, spent the whole month of August in Japan. Wifey is from Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Love Japan.

It may not be faster than the CTR however. The C&D Lightening Lap issue shows the CTR getting around VIR a few seconds faster than the e92 M3. If I wanted a track weapon, stock for stock, doesn't seem like you can go wrong with the CTR.

Full disclosure. VIR was repaved and slightly reconfigured (some turns were widened) in 2014 which results in about a 2 second faster lap time. Given that, I'm really surprised that they are that close given the Laguna results. But then again, C&D doesn't use the same driver like Motor Trend either so their results can be inconsistent.

Agreed, not to mention the test for the E92 was done almost 10 years ago on much older tire technology.

We have to face the facts here...the general public will not take tire advancement (or factory undersizing) into account when making comparisons between new and old cars, and this is exactly what the marketing teams seek to continue...Consumerism at its finest.

But in the USA we only measure speed by the 1/4 mile...

E9x M3 = 12.6s @ 113mph
CTR = 14.0s @ 102mph

To be honest I would take a Focus RS over the CTR.

That seems to be the majority consensus.

All the comparisons I have read put the Civic ahead of the Focus. Focus probably looks better to those over 20.

The Civic Type R (7min 43s) destroys a regular E92 M3 by 22 seconds on the Ring! It even beats the E92 M3 GTS and M4 by 3-6 seconds. 22 seconds is smoked IMO.
I don't care what speed, gas mileage, handling, etc that this Honda has... it's still a Honda Civic. I'd rather lose a leg than give up an M car for a freaking Honda. What in the world....

I think I would rather have a CTR than an E30 or E36, it actually does seem more "luxurious" to those cars IMO, lol. I would still prefer an E46 to the CTR and definitely prefer the E92 to the CTR.

I hope most M car owners don't feel this way. Honda has a long history in racing and has produced some really good sports cars - NSX, S2000 and CTR. In fact base civics are really good cars for the price. Please don't knock cars based on the badge. It gives bmw drivers bad reps

Brand is one thing, model is another. I would NEVER give up my M for a civic. It could have 1 million HP and it just wouldn't happen. At the end of the day its still a civic. On the other hand I've owned an S2000 and it was a fantastic car. It's not the Honda badge everyone here is hating on, its fact that under all the ridiculous looking aero and good lap times its still a civic.
