Full review of the new Audi S4

My friend Chris did a write up on the new S4...while in Spain. See link...sounds like it is definitely worth considering.

Sounds like a great car. I'm still torn between either this or the A5 next, and it looks like they may be close in price. After seeing an A4 in person the other day, the rear just looks squished to me, and the overall bodywork just flows better on the A5 than the A/S4. Still, Audi did a great job with their new lineup!

Sounds like a likely choice for a next car (simply on the basis of fuel economy). Performs better than the V8, has selective ride control, and a torque vectoring system. Sounds good to me.

Looks like your handle was short lived based on that review. Best ask the Mods if you can change it to 335toS4.

No seriously, this is the Audi most Audi fans have been looking for, a car which is as playful as it is competent. Also I love the two-toned leather, is that a stock option or part of the Exclusive range?

Hey Bimmer Loyalist, and anyone else, what do you think? I don't need it to handle extraordinarily well, I'm pretty much going in a straight line down the highway (Rt. 1 to I-95 for work, for those who live near me). Drive Select is available on the A5 also. Which would you take?

Depends on what you're comparing.

A5 to S4...S4 hands down...no question.

S5 to S4...I'd wait for the S5 to recieve the new engine and the drive select. I'm sure all this tech will be passed on to the S5. It doesn't have the torque vectoring differential, does it?

My problem with the S5 was the steering. I'm wondering if this drive select system will allow for heavier steering on sport settings or something.

The S4 is going to be a great car. If I had to choose between the 335i & S4, id go S4 all the way. To me it just looks better inside and out, and should handle just as well as the 335i. Heck the S5 competes with the 335i extremely well when it comes to lap times, and the S4 is better than the S5 right now.

Have you ever heard the S5 (v8) with millitek exhaust? Amazing. However I'd rather get the gas mileage of the 6 then having the sound of an 8...though its really hard to choose

Hrm, but in the looks department, do you prefer the A5 with S-line or the S4? I've seen them both in real life (an A4 though) and the A5 just seems to have more of a presence than the A4 does and the A4 trunk is just strange with those taillights. Coming from a 328xi, the A5 is already quicker so that is fine, although I'd love the extra hp from a supercharged 6. Decisions decisions...

Sounds like you want the looks more than the power and driving dynamics. That's cool. It's up to you. Looks-wise the S4 doesn't have anything on the S5.

From what I've read over at a5oc.com & audiworld, people are saying drive select makes one hell of a difference

Yeah those S5's are beautiful. I saw one in the parking lot during the election last week. The thing was aggressive looking, yet classy, and it had a low stance. I really liked it, then I saw some 62 year old guy get into it and I thought, "Man pops has taste!"

Great article!
BUt I have to disagree on the last bit on the price. I think the new S4 will definitely start near 50k then mid 45k...I want it to be the latter but aint going to happen.

Anyway, I hope the S4 is all we want it to be.....good in straightline, great on a track and superb as a daily driving car

In the UK the new S4 is starting cheaper than the outgoing version, even though it's better specced. So it may well be cheaper in the States as well.

I dunno how the conversion from Euro to $ works.... but I'm still betting it's going to be around 49k.........I can back that because only 3000 S4's (Only sedan's) are coming to USA so they will be highly priced(Sticker only)

Yeah..but the market will still be depressed..so they wont go for MSRP or higher..that I know for sure.
