thought id give a little update on prices from some shops i emailed this week. these prices are strictly labour. when i emailed i said the following parts would be provided; rod bearings, rod bolts, engine mounts, oil pan gasket, oil filter and engine oil. so basically everything needed please correct me if i missed anything.

RMP motors $1500+ tax
RMJ motors $1250 + tax
Stance Factory $ 1500 + tax
Eurocharged $1440 + tax
11 tenths racecraft $1200 + tax if you use ARP bolts or $1320 + tax if you use OEM bolts
Bimmersport $1280 + tax

still waiting on BMWizard

The reason why I only want labour is I want to do it with these products

ACL rod bearings 8B1580HX-STD $249.10 CAD shipped (eBay)
OEM BMW rod bolts $201.87 CAD
Febi Bilstein engine mounts (pair) $90.74 CAD
OEM Oil Pan Gasket $33.65 CAD
Shipping for the engine mounts, rod bolts and oil pan gasket $20.78 CAD (From cars245.com)
Liquid moly oil (2x5L Jugs) and OEM oil filter $145 (GP Parts)

Total $ 741.14 CAD

Not that bad

^^^ So those prices also do not include parts pricing which is misleading.

I don't understand how it's misleading when I clearly stated what would be provided and also said it's strictly labour. Some shops quoted me 1100-1700 for parts which I found online significantly cheaper. That is why I would rather have them just do labour and find the parts myself. Shops do make money on parts.

i guess if you're bringing all the parts yourself sure. I saw a list of the full price here somewhere before and felt that was a more informative way of looking at it.

just dropped my car at RMP today with Rocco.

Do the shops give you a warranty when using your own parts? All the shops in my area told me they can't warranty the job with parts that they aren't supplying.. Bit worrisome on a job like rod bearings..

I got mine done at RMP, and forgot which company rocco used for the parts.

Did you ask any of the shops which parts they use when they perform the rod bearing service? To compare etc?

Not knocking you just asking, as im sure the info would be useful to GTA community.

The shops were all over the place, some said they'd only put in oem bearings, others vac bearings, none of them heard of or recommended BE bearings. One shop even said to do the job they have to take out the motor... Lol

quick update... i dropped my car off at RMP with Rocco for rod bearings, spark plugs, rear brake pads etc on thursday afternoon and it was done and ready to be picked up within 24 hours. They started taking the car apart before i even left the building. probably just lucky timing.

he did the engine mounts, oil pan gasket, ARP bolts for the connecting rods with the service.

invoice says Calico coated Mahle clevitte connecting rod bearing set for S65.

$3200 + HST for the rod bearing service.

he even did some minor adjustments under the car while it was in... just adjustment some stuff on account of my having the skid plate rather than the felt cowels.

pretty happy thus far.

Just got my rod bearings, motor mounts, etc. Done at 11tenths racecraft. Randy was professional, personable, and very knowledgable. Both his mechanics are great too.

My car had 180,000kms on original bearings, and a couple were showing copper. My motor mounts had complete disintegrated.

Very happy with the service. Highly suggested.
