Early twenties, looking at an M3

Nowadays, I see late 28 year old's still living with their parents yet drive nice cars that are leased Its instant gratifications for the younger generation I guess. That's why household debt is climbing year after year. I know a divorced woman that is still supporting her 32 year old son! He doesn't pay for rent or food.

I would definately save and get a property first. Especially with the current real estate market in the States right now being so affordable. This won't last forever.

BTW, we have been getting an awful lot of 20 year old's living with their parents lately asking if its ok to get an M3.

Looks like my prior comment was deleted so I'll clean it up. It's like breast feeding a five year old. It's just not right and creates a pile of babies that never really mature. And yeah it's strange how many of these threads we see.

So true ^^^ this is ... when I was a young fellow I set a goal and it was to drive a new German car by age 50. I was happy when I did exactly that, my daughter still drives drives our first Bimmer. She will never ever sell it since it holds so many pleasant memories.

It felt real great to have accomplished that goal at the time.

Sure I dreamt when I was younger, I remember test driving a new Mercedes SL in 1971 did I get it No Way it was around $9,000- then. No it did help support my dreams

It felt great getting that first Bimmer and writing out the cheque for the full sales price then taking the family all the way to California from Western Canada and back again.

Thanks everyone for your input! Clearly it's best to wait it out, but if I can find a good deal on an E9x I will go for it, with extended warranty for peace of mind. I would love to have owned one when they were still "new".

Are you really taking these "life" advises from the M3 owners?

Your only in your early twenties, some people in their 30's and 40's can't even afford an M3. Invest your money in like real estate or something and in a couple years you'll be able to afford one without even thinking about it. You don't have to pay rent or any bills. So invest your money.

I don't think the m3 is for a 22 year old period and not for financial reasons either. Its too much of a machine for that age, its a disaster waiting to happen. At 22 you barely know what a car is.

Could not agree any less with this. Age doesnt 100% dictate driving skill, its completely nonsense to say that. I had a 500whp Viper when I was 22, a 22 year old isnt a 16 year old showing off to his highschool friends. Someone who is 45 could easily rack up an m3 as a 22yrold could. And besides, a stock m3 isnt a violent raw car. Ive got friends with Civics who have lost control of those more often then friends with s5's, camaros, etc

I would go with an E46 M3 or E86 M in your situation. Done and done. Living at home, I would honestly buy a house and enjoy all the fun and craziness that comes with that before I would spend money on a nice car living with parents.

I am on many forums and am amzed that on an M car forum, where these cars are 75k!!, people post almost daily about how to buy insurance; how much is insurance, and the best, Can I afford this car?

How do people make it through life making their own decisions? And how on earth can they afford an M3 if the questions they ask here are any inidcator of who they are in real life. Amazing I tell ya..

Yet, me, gets reprimanded. People make stupid posts/jokes all day on this forum and nothing happens. If you're a vendor, oh jeez forget about it!! Rules go out the window.

this forum is failing tremendously. I wish M3fourm was more popular for e9x chassis as it really is a good tech forum and not at all like m3post. Mods are gonna let a good forum go bad real quick

I'm almost 19 and make $500k+ because I work hard and bought my M3 with cash. But I'm vey mature. Sucks that some people can't afford an M3.
