Purchased a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3

In trying figure out whether to commit to dedicated snows, I chose to go another route. Living in NYC, and not "needing" a car to get around, I feel like I'd be wasting money on snow tires. I bought Blizzaks for my C32 and even though it occasionally snows, the car never touched it. I did the same with my RRS because they came with summer tires.

Again, it snows here but Im not looking for a snow tire. I'm just looking for tires for cold, dry days. I ended up buying Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 255/35-19 and 285/30-19 (GTS size) for my ZCP E90. Based on the reviews, these should get me year round driving without too much compromise. If I ever track it, I will by a dedicated set up but I don't know if that will happen anytime soon.

Looking forward to mounting these and compare them to my oem Conti's

I'm looking at the same setup for winter, except what made you choose 285/30 for the rears instead of 265/35 or 275/35?

Thats the size BMW uses on the GTS with comp wheels, same wheels as the ZCP

How do you like the handling? I'm about to buy a set myself.
Want to know how they feel, and I'm sure they'll be able to handle NYC snow.
We rarely get more than 1-2 accumulation on main roads.

I'm still breaking them in but so far, I'm really liking them. They are considerably quieter than the OEM Continentals and very responsive. Once I get a few hundred on them, I'll be able to tell you more but as of now, I see very little compromise in overall performance versus what I had previously but the ride quality is a huge improvement

Do you have any pics of them? Any hydroplaning issues in the wet? And are you running any spacers? I'm trying to decide if the rear would be better served on my ZCP 10" wheels in 275/35/19 or 285/30/19. Both are only a 1% variance on the stock ZCP 265/35/19 in overall diameter, but I'm wondering if a smaller sidewall in the 285/30 would provide better stiffness/steering response.

I've only driven about 100 miles since I put them on so I don't have a lot of feedback yet but I'll be driving more next week.

So we have 3-4 inches on the ground and had to know how these tires would perform before deciding whether to keep them or return them under Michelins 30 return policy.

As long as you have a light foot, these are perfect for what I was looking for; getting me home if I got caught in unexpected snow. The tires did reasonably well in accumulated, untouched snow. On packed snow, the tires definitely had less grip but again, appectable for my purposes. On wet and slush, the tires performed perfectly but it is ice that I didn't experience and worry about the most. In all these conditions, I found the best traction was to start in 2nd gear. While getting moving is important, stopping is even more important.

As far as braking under any of these conditions, the tires were very capable and gripped well. I tried a few hard brakes at 20-0 mph (here in the city) and the provided good grip and it was only on packed snow that the abs kicked in to help.

While these are by no means a replacement for dedicated snows, it provided the traction for stopping and starting that I wanted.

Add that to the incredible cold dry traction, these are staying on my car.
