Hey guys, first post here!
I am looking at buying my first M car. It's a 2012 alpine white M3 competition with 26k miles in New York. The car is MINT, even to my standards as a professional detailer.
Its priced accordingly with not having the edc option, but the carfax shows 5 owners and at some point it was "leased" in 2017. I attached pitcures of the carfax, seeing if anyone here can tell me if the car is not worth it or if its normal. I am getting a PPI done on tuesday from a reputable shop in the NY area. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Depends on how long you plan on owning it. If you plan to sell it shortly being the 6th owner might reflect negatively on the cars value being a lower mileage newer example. Having said that it happens constantly in a supercars life. The leased thing to me is more of a positive, people typically take care of leased cars so they don't get dinged on return, it also explains a short owner history. If it bothers you, try using it to negotiate and get in where the price fits you. If not shop elsewhere. Would a tracked car bother you? Because I think at this point a lot of m3's out there have seen a little track time as they should.

Results of PPI are way more important.

Good chance this car never left tri-State area. FL registrations on NY cars very common - especially all those high dollar zip codes - Glenn Cove, Boca, Naples .... Maybe the same owner with two addresses at times so might be less than 5 owners.

PPI and dealer pull of maintenance required.

OP, you mention Carfax, but post a report from Autocheck. While similar in function, they a very different in accuracy and, more importantly, completeness of info.

My mom is a snowbird, and I would doubt you'd try to register the car twice because to move title and reg requires duplicate sales taxes (and registration fees). Maybe that might happen once if the owner moves.
