We've got both now. I'm keeping the E90 M3...for good, but that was already planned. The M2C is my wife's main car, and we've put almost 1700 miles on it already. I took the car to a wet skidpad event at Michelin proving grounds, where I've had the M3 before, and I did a write up in this thread. Further down in that thread I did a brief comparison to the E90 M3. We've been so busy I've not had a chance to drive the M3 again since that day, but my wife and I are planning on taking them both out for some rural road back-to-back driving this weekend.

It's a entirely different experience than the S65. The S55 is a beast in this little car. If the S65 experience is a scalpel, the S55 is a butcher's knife. One thing I can say for sure is that they have massively improved the electric power steering -- by far BMW's best effort to date; see my write up on that. If someone said "you have to sell your E90 M3 for an M2C", I wouldn't be crazy upset as it's a fun car, and the seating position is superior to the M3 (wheel telescopes a lot more, shift is closer to driver), and the seats are fantastic. I'm glad I don't have to make that choice.

Cheers,
Chuck

P.S. Wait a bit and buy from a dealer that does a lot of out of state sales...we got a $1117 discount off MSRP. We were on the list at my local dealer for MSRP, but our allocation spot wasn't going to come up until probably Dec or Jan, so this one appeared and we bought it right away since it was exactly what we planned to build: LBB, slicktop, Exec pkg, 6MT.

M2C is a stellar car by all accounts, considering switching myself.

However there are sightings of a possible M2 CS in the works - https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1543417

If you wait a bit as Chuck suggested there might be more info.

I've been considering the same switch. However, in my opinion, the premium cost of a new M2 outweighs the value proposition the car offers. Just my personal opinion as the amount of "fun" you have with a car is very subjective. But I believe anything short of a GT3 just won't provide me enough of a reason to switch.

However, the E92 M3 is not the most pleasant daily driver IMO (especially in a manual). If you want a multi-purposed car that's great for daily driving, torquey and easier to drive, then the M2 is a great option. If I only had one car, then I would consider the M2. However, the M3 is a weekend warrior for now as I daily a truck.

The regular 17 M2 is a fun daily driver with 6MT, really easy and fun. I'm sure the M2C is a blast.

But no keep the LRP because NA 8000rpm V8.

When the M2 came out I thought nice car, but still would never trade it for e92 M. The M2C is a lot more appealing, but I think I'd still take the e92 M3 especially a special color like the LRP.

No way OP.
Yes I'm biased but also drove the M2 and it didn't do it for me. Nice car for sure but it lacks the induction sound, linear acceleration and overall BMW heritage (proper hood line, round halos, etc.)

I can't get over the way the M2 looks. E46 M3 still looks better to me, and E92 much better.

The front looks ok, but the rear just looks silly for some reason; I think it's the completely straight line on the top and cheap looking diffuser / exhaust.

Unless you're really tired of the M3, don't. But if you're dissatisfied then the M2C is a great choice.

Yeah I have to chime in here, I have considered doing a swap to the M2C - sell my E92 for ?? I dunno say, $35K - and use some cash and finance the balance of the new M2C...Buuuuuuuuutt.

Everytime I see an E90, E92 or E93....I'd be all...shit!..That V8 is still the best...

Yeah, yeah...I'd have the latest and greatest new tech and the power in M2C....but I'd miss as heck that guttural feeling (and sound) of mashing the gas pedal to 8,000 RPM....and so and so on...

Honestly I love the e92 m3 especially your's is a LRP edition, but I would get the new M2 comp. It's a very appealing car in every way IMO, with good power and potential. Chassis and everything is an improvement over the e9x m3's. Best way is to see if you can test drive one (if a dealer has one in stock) and then decide.

I could never make that swap as I think it's a downgrade in so many driver categories.

I just bought an e92 M3. I agree. It's too much of a beast to be a DD. I just got rid of my 2002 Civic. My Z4 3.0si will be my daily driver now. Great mileage. It's quick and nimble with just enough power to get me in and out of traffic quick.

Anyone else read the Road and Track cover article in the November issue? The author is making M2C sound like it's a muscle car that struggles with cornering grip, but I think it's just under-tired on the stock PSS + was tested in ridiculous heat. 2019 SS 1LE sounds like a great track weapon though.
