Tune2Air WMA3000B The Best Option?

I know this question has probably been answered before but I wanted to see if the Tune2Air WMA3000B is the best option for playing audio from an iPhone 6 on an 09 E90 M3? It doesn't seem that you can just use the Apple Lightning Cable in the USB plug in the center console to play music correct?

Get it. Plug it in and don't look back. Works just like an OEM BT should. Order it on amazon for what 80 bucks? Shows up on the screen perfect and the steering wheel controls work too. Great purchase.

I'm fairly curious to see if this model works any better than the last one. Currently, I use the older model (No Y-cable, I use the OEM y-cable) and for some reason my steering wheel controls don't work and the music data no longer appears iDrive.

It's worth trying this one out. But, yes, it works flawlessly

I've heard the same thing about the OEM Y. The 3000b works pretty dang well with the most recent apple update.

When it's set up properly, it sounds great. Turn the EQ off on your phone and turn input volume on your car to 2. Not CD quality, but equivalent to AUX quality I would say.

sound quality has been the only thing holding me back from getting this. most people say bt streaming will reduce the quality compared to an aux input, which makes sense.

Judging by my beats wireless headphones, which is the same BT technology, sound quality difference prob won't be very noticible

Unless you're an audiophile (which I used to be), you'll be happy with the clarity and quality. I don't think it can get better than this through BT. BT has come a LONG way in terms of SQ.

What makes you think the 3000 has different/better firmware?

Just from the research I've done, as well as reviews. Not to mention the 1000 doesn't work with steering wheel controls Anymore for the newest apple update, and the 3000 does. There's a little USB port on the side of the 3000, that is used for syncing to a computer for firmware updates. I don't think this port is on the 1000.

I can confirm. My steering wheel controls don't work anymore nad there is no port for updating on the 1000.

Odd...I am on the latest iOS with my iPhone 5S and all of my steering wheel controls work. You are able to update the firmware on the 1000 with the standard Apple 30 pin cable. There is a guide on how to do it on the tune2air website.

Oooooooh...really? Do you have a link for that?

UPDATE: Found it. But FWIW, I'll probably just buy the new one. I don't have the resources nor the patience for that update. Plus, some review on amazon said they were unable to receive a registration code from the sales reps, unable to update their receiver.

Yeah, as far as I know there isn't any difference in the 1000 and 3000 in terms of firmware upgradability and sound quality. You can buy either one and get the same result. If you don't already have the OEM Y cable, might as well buy the 3000.

I tried a few different options, I went with a Rockford 3sixty unit that allowed me to adjust audio setting and have a nice crisp bluetooth signal from my phone to the stock head unit.

a little out of the price range of what we are talking about. going oem retrofit with combox would be more appealing at that price point.

What is the price point for a combobox with coding? I would think that is much more than having a amp with bluetooth and processor all in one
