That sounds like the perfect situation. Extra clearance than stock and a coating. That's what the other lads are working on now with their custom clevite model. However if the vac bearings give you extra clearance now then it sounds like the winner. However apparently they coat over the parting lines over something which you should sand back?

I just got the 271B code on my P3 gauge for the second time in 2 weeks with only regular driving, not even freeway. Just cruising. Would it be the intake selenoid for a bank 1 would be causing that issue? If it is, where would I find that part for it? And why would it be going bad? I appreciate the help! |

Parts fail as vehicles get older, and that fault code is related to VANOS exhaust:
271B - P000B Information saved in DME Fault code 271B - P000B Fault text VANOS control, exhaust bank 1 Fault description 'B' Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 1) Condition for fault identification Test condition: Filtered control deviation > 8.0°Crankshaft (K_VAN_XD_FILT_ED) Terminal condition: Terminal 15 Voltage condition: Battery voltage > 9V (k_ed_ubmin) Condition for fault memory entry 1 Action in service 1. Clear fault memory, VANOS system test 2. Check valves, check adjuster Fault effect and breakdown warning MIL on after engine runs 2x Driver information Warning light: MIL Service instruction none Is it throwing a yellow CEL yet? If it is, and it's becoming more regular, I suggest you go and see your favourite BMW tech for some help with a diagnosis on root cause, and the fix. |
