I've got 275 AD08Rs up front which are as wide as a lot of 285 spec tires. No problem at all other than slight fender liner rub at full lock. I'm at -2.0 camber up front.

What size tire are you running that the wheel sticks out past them? I haven't had that with three different brands of 275's on 10" wheels. Not trying to talk you out of 285s but 275s might open up some more tire choices. For reference I have run Dunlop Direzza ZIII, Nitto NT01, & Goodyear F1 Supercar 3R all in 275/35/18 on 10" wheels with none of them not being wider than the wheel.

I've done 285/40-17 square on an ET25 17x10 and 285/35-18 RS3 up front. Those 26" tires can work, but it'll rub.
A 285/30-18 is fine. You want 285/30-18 if you don't want to rub. Much shorter tire. 24.7-25" tall, so you'll have significantly shorter gearing if you run it square. Depending on the tire I don't like how a 275/35-18 looks on a 10. Works amazing, looks eh, depending on the tire again

Running some Ventus v12, they are narrow anyways. Was looking at the ps4 in 285/35/18. I don’t mind a little rub. I’m pretty sure the liner is rubbed out anyways already

I run 285/35/18 squared on track, modified the metal seam under the fender liner behind the wheel, it rubs less than most other setups people like to run.
Like 255/30/20 which is even taller and rubs more, and people like to run on those on 20s for some odd/dumb reason.

With stock suspension and alignment settings, I would advise running 18x10's with 275/35-18 tires on all four corners. There is a reason why this fitment is so popular.
The 18x10 (lets say with a common et25 offset) is a direct fit on both the front and rear of the car with 275/35-18 tires. The benefits are that you do not need negative camber to fit this setup under the front fenders (although it will perform better with camber dialed in), and there are many tire choices in this size. Furthermore, 275/35-18 keeps your overall rolling diameter in check (correct), whereas 285/30 is short, and 285/35 is too tall. Keep in mind the 275/35-18 will look meatier then 285/30-18 tires as well, due to the taller aspect ratio. OEM 18" front tire for benchmark: 245/40-18 - Overall height of 25.72" OEM 19" front tire for benchmark: 245/35-19 - Overall height of 25.75" 265/35-18 - Overall height of 25.03" (acceptable height) 275/35-18 - Overall height of 25.58" (closest height to stock) 285/30-18 - Overall height of 24.73" (very short) 285/35-18 - Overall height of 25.85" (slightly tall) As you can see, when you get to a 285 tire, the problem is that the 30 series aspect ratio is a bit short for our liking, and the 35 series aspect ratio is a bit tall. Both CAN be used, but they both have implications and it is up to the driver to decide which he is willing to live with. Tire shape has a lot to do with it as well. Track oriented compounds typically have a more square sidewall, and therefore increase your chances of rubbing the fender liners (or possibly damaging your fenders upon heavy suspension compression). If you are looking to run Michelin PS4S, my assumption is that this is a street car. If that is the case, 275/35-18 makes even more sense as they are plenty wide and fit "correctly". There is really no added value with the 285's. I hope this helps! - Ryan

I've run 285/30-18 and 285/645-18 and 305/645-18 on 18x10 +25 square before.
It's not a matter of fitment (they all fit) it's a matter of optimal tire width for the rim. The 285/30-18 on a 10" fits -but it's slightly pinched on the rim - particularly since most of the EHP tires run wider than advertised. I like a very mild stretch so the sidewalls are nice and responsive. The 275/35-18 were more responsive and I noticed no difference in all out grip. The 285/30-18 is great for the 10.5" rim though. |

I have run 285/30/18 on 10.5" wheels with good results.
