This is what Transport Canada says
Quote:
Issue: On certain 3-series and M3 vehicles, the positive battery cable connection to the fuse box may fail. This could cause a loss of electrical power while driving. As a result the engine could turn off and various electrical systems may not work, including the lights. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power and/or loss of vehicle electrical systems could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the positive battery cable connector with an updated version. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2013-048.
Its from an earlier recall back in 2013.

Quote:
On certain vehicles, the positive battery cable connection to the fuse box could fail while the vehicle is being driven. This could interrupt the vehicle’s electrical system, resulting in engine stalling, loss of vehicle propulsion and a loss of function of various vehicle systems, such as lights. A loss of vehicle propulsion and electrical vehicle systems, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the positive battery cable connector with an updated version.

I received it too. BMW will start sending out notices next month. I've been aware of the issue and tried to have my dealer replace/fix the cable when I had them do the airbag and blower recall last year. They told me my 2010 M3 was not included in the battery cable recall. I tried to tell them it was. They said based on my VIN it was not part of the cable recall. They said if I receive a recall notice, thats when they will fix it...

its the same recall on the non m e9x that came out years ago. they finally now included the m3 and diesel variants to the recall. basically its splicing in a new power cable that feeds the fuse box behind the glovebox....

Anyone know how to tell by looking at the fuse box? Where's this tin coated wire?

No splice. A complete new cable point to point is ran.

FYI:Make sure they put your carpet and panels back in correctly. They broke almost all the tabs in my passenger doorsill and did not properly reinstall my carpet.

incorrect, ive done about a hundred of them. the recall is a b+ power wire that you splice in. not point to point, that would mean replacing the cable from the battery to the fuse box

My recall was replaced point to point. I back tracked their work as they left the carpet pulled out along my passenger door as well as two of the grey plastic tabs out on the grey carpet in the trunk. Prior to this I marked my positive cable in a few locations to know what was done. No markings anywhere on my cable after recall work. Have you performed these recalls in LA area?

lol since I got the recall done, my cars been having some electrical issues.

1) The battery was somehow drained - at least I got codes of the computer trying to wake up the modules but it didn't. If my car wasn't connected to the trickle charger it would have been dead most likely. My time reset again after setting it.

2) This one is odd: I have BavGruppe V3 Round Rings, they're the switch back but I don't have the turn signal wired up so it won't act as an amber signal. Yesterday while doing some work, the passenger side angel eyes went Amber while the driver side remained white lol.

Probably some coincidence here but I made a follow up appointment with dealership to see what's wrong. I told them if I get the codes again I'll attempt to resolve myself and cancel my appointment

I read somewhere that this could also be the reason why some cars that sit for just a week could get a low battery/quick discharge error. This has been happening to me and have inspected every fuse for phantom drain. Nothing. I have since had this recall done and hope it fixes my battery drain issue. This is also a BRAND new battery.
