Problem with matte black side grill...HELP
I finally got around to installing the matte black side grills today and am very disappointed with the quality. Namely, I disassembled the stock grills, proceeded to put the side light into the matte black grill, and screw it down. I heard a crack and see that the plastic housing that holds the screw has a small crack in it. This was only at about 1/2 way screwed in. I carefully proceed to screw it down all the way and it holds. So I put that side back on the car. I then proceed to do the other side and have the same issue, only this time the entire plastic housing that holds the screw breaks into pieces! So I put the stock grill on that side back on. Wondering if anyone else has run into such a problem? To me it seems the stock torx screw is too large in diameter for these matte black grills, so the manufacturer should either correct this problem in the mold or provide smaller screws with the grills. I have contacted the vendor regarding swapping out these grills with new ones and also a solution to this problem. Very frustrating to say the least.

there is a whole thread about this. some versions of the side markers need to have the screw holes drilled out with 5/32 first. i did it as a precaution and it worked perfect.
