Yes, that was evident. Notice my initial posts in this thread painfully trying to extract information from him. Even at one point I told him to post it all because he was going to get asked by every other member. I tried to be cordial about it in the beginning.
It was very obvious from the beginning he wanted to string this out. For what reason?

I would be happy with the numbers that have been generated here, but I am wondering if the car is over priced for a number of members, even at $55,000?? Why is everyone so concerned about the cost of the car when it comes down to a couple of thousand of dollars??? If you can't afford to pay $2,000 - $5,000 more than what is estimated here, then maybe you should be looking at a different car??

Honestly, if you are planning on leasing and putting down the minimum needed, then your payment will be over $1,000/month. Maybe your monthly car payment could be used more wisely??? i.e., paying student loan payments, buying a house, paying off your outstanding credit, etc....

Actually the price for the M3 e46 thur Military sales....BASE was 44600, before delivery of 2150...ad 10% from what I was told buy the dealer here, and it come out to be 49060+2150= 51210......and it was about a 6000, dollar difference..so the U.S. price might..and I say might be 57,300+775, so about 58,000 base....which would be great and seeing dealers are gonna mark it up by 3 to 4..thou..so figure about 62,000...for u.s customers....which is fracking awsome....

I don't think people are all that concerned about a 2-3k difference. You must be aware that there are several sources who predicted ~$62k base, and elsewhere in the world the car has been market up 20%+ from 06 to 08. That would be significant. I'd still buy it though even at that price.

I see your point. A 2K difference shouldnt be that big of deal to most people. However, when do you draw the line. If you say only 2K more should be manageable then why not 3k or 5k? I think people are just setting limits for themselves. I know where my psychological barrier is where it makes more sense for me to just get a 335i than an M3. I think that is all you are seeing here.

I agree, the 10% discount sounds more accurate and in line with what my Military Sales rep has been telling me all along. 12% would be awesome but I am not getting my hopes up.

You know... the painted sticker / sign on the sun visors, the you can't open and close the top from the remote.

Back on topic, I will email my military sales guy in Germany to get an update tomorrow. He is kind of slow with the info, unless I specifically ask him.

I agree about the minimal price difference not being a huge factor but $2000 is... like $2000.

Epacy, dude, you make me laugh. I guess you could "vote me off the island" I suppose you would tread more lightly if you knew I was living seven to a room, operating off half dial up speed and surrounded by barbed wire and blast walls...but I still post.
I would be interested where I said I wanted to string anyone along...not my style, something must have been taken out of context. I simply didn't want to post all the material due to my relationship with the company sales rep, but hey , she didn't say not to post it. It was naive of me to think I could throw "a little" of what I had out there, I will admit that much. Anyway, I should have just posted this to begin with and taken the company logo out as I have here in these edited jpgs, my badd.
I did receive confirmation today that these package groupings and stand alone options are accurate for the US market.
Sincerely,
Davo aka "Bad Forum Member"

Davo thanks for the info. Even if it is still estimated at least its something to look at and generate some hypothetical numbers. Anything at this point will keep me from punching myself in the face! This wait is killing me. I have the immunity idol and will give it to you so you can stay on the island. The Tribe has spoken!

Mmm, looking at the price sheet, and Euro members chime in please:

Is extended leather $2150 on top of the $1450 for leather? Or if you get premium package is it different, ie, an additional $700?

Davo. You are funny. I'll vote to keep you on the island as well. Thanks again for posting in the circumstances you are in. Hopefully day dreams about the car are helping you keep your head on properly. Likely almost an insignificant detail (it's just a car) but the small things can help.

This is what led me to believe you were stringing things along purposefully.

Fellas,

Hopefully my Mil Sales rep will be back in the office tomorrow and will be able to verify the new estimate. A second opinion would be nice here and I hope to prove Davo right...

If past BMW history of pricing Extended Leather options is considered, yes, it is $2150 on top of Leather option/Premium option.

The "Enhanced Premiun Sound" at only $700 doesn't sound (no pun intended) to me like either Logic 7 (a $1200 option on 328i) or much less the Individual Audio (some $800-$900 option on top of the Logic 7 price = some $2000+ total).

What this "Enhanced Premiun Sound" exactly is is then a mystery for me; one thing for sure, either the price is wrong or only for the M3 this is the price of the Logic 7 option/some new low cost DSP solution. There's no way that you can jump from base HiFi to Top HiFi Individual for just $700. Unless it is a gift... very un-BMW-like.

Power REAR windows? Did I miss that part?

Aux input for portable media players is standard? What is the difference between that and the iPod/USB option?

I think that is just a straight line-in connection. The iPod connection should allow the iPod to interface with the head unit in the car.

You plug the DAP into the car through a 1/4" jack instead of USB (6FL) which means no menu control through iDrive.

The 3-series is a smaller car than the 5 or 6. So maybe its a bit cheaper

One thing doesn't add up here. How come the iPod option is only $350 for the M3 whereas it is $400 for the 335 according to bmwusa.com?
