Full-digital retrofit gauge clusters

Been following these guys on Instagram for a while and I guess they just launched the campaign for the first run today. Not cheap but seems like a cool product. Hopefully they're successful and make these for other platforms as well.

OMG this is literally a project I've been dreaming of! I hope it works with the M3 DCT shift lights.

Seems like a neat mod. I would wait until people actually get their hands on them to try one out.

damn, now they added a down payment option @ $165.

I sure would like to know more about the screen itself though. Manufacture and specs, especially latency, resolution and such. Going to keep an eye on the project for sure.

Sounds like it could be the same screen that it seems everyone is using now. 10.3 inch sound a lot like it could be the 10.25 BMW use.

This thing looks amazing btw!

This skin on their Instagram page looks sweet. Maybe in a blue/white?

I’m actually really interested in this, but I’m struggling to make sense of the different options they are selling.

Yea for some reason its not layed out in the body of the text but if you click on each option it looks like they come with more accessories/cables/updates etc.

Yeah I saw that, but some of the options are a bit confusing, and seem silly to have as optional paid extras (since they are kinda the whole reason you want this in the first place).

Seems dumb to spend $1000 to only have a single set of gauges that look like the original analog ones.

For example, you have to pay extra for the sport displays.

I'd be worried about how the display/tablet performs after the car is bakes in the hot summer sun...

They claim auto grade displays, and I had a cheap Android head unit in my work car for over a year suffering through many 40C Aussie summer days without a problem, so wouldn't be too concerned about that.

*edit: obviously just my anecdotal experience

That is a really neat venture! Hoping it actually goes into production though I don't see myself as a buyer anyways.

I emailed them and they are not focused on bringing an M3 specific interface to market at the moment. So that means the DCT shift lights don't work at launch. They may do an M3 interface at a later stage, if there is demand.

So that's a deal breaker for me. But I will monitor the project and if they do something for M3 I will be interested.

I'm going to pass. The options seem like a money grab, the basic option doesn't come with a cable, does that mean it won't be plug and play? Also have to pay extra for oil/coolant temp which is standard for M3 guys, would not make sense without it.

It would most likely be the same as the Navigation screens on cars?

Hmm...I'm always up for modernizing the E9X platform a bit. Project looks cool for sure but like many people here, I'm skeptical.

For a product that is "90%" developed, there is not a lot of videos of the thing actually working. Especially considering it's supposed to ship in two months. They have the same pictures on the indiegogo and all over their instagram, and one video that barely shows anything. I assume it is very easy for them to just put up their graphic overlays on that screen and just take static pictures of it. Very suspect they only have 2 second of footage of it actually in a car.

Also the fact they claim they will never stock this product and that it will only be produced for backers is odd. Pretty sure if this thing actually works and the demand is high enough, they will produce more. Who puts in time and money into something like this only to produce a few hundred for backers only? This statement just seems like they're out for a quick cash grab.

Wish it works out, cause it looks like a cool product.

I watched a YT video on this cluster. Explained the cutting and all that jazz. I’m wondering if anyone has bought this recently and if the analog style view on this cluster is still a little laggy? Like the frames are a few mili seconds behind?
