AVIN install Help in E93 with CIC

Hello,

I purchased, and have tried to install the Avin 8.8 inch Android unit in my 2012 E93 M3 with CIC. (https://redirect.viglink.com/?format...1-e92-e93.html)

I am running into a problem. The Avin intercepts the signals from the Stereo, send it to the unit, and then I guess back down, with a harness. Meaning, the harness has a receptacle for the cars harness, and then another plug for the stereo, in the shape of a "Y" or more like a "T." For the life of me, once the connections are made, I am unable to bolt the stereo back into the car, because the connector interferes with the unit being pushed all the way back in. There is no room for my hands to move the cable when pushing the stereo back in, and the harness is too short to stuff the connectors somewhere in a void behind the dash. I have even tried to use some wire to pull the connector out of the way and above the stereo unit to make room, but that didn't work either.

Anyone here install the Avin unit, preferably in an E93 M3 with CIC, and was able to make it fit? How?

Thanks in advance

I feel your pain, place connecter far right lower. Keep in place by grappling through hole via glove compartment. Bring radio close up to dash, connect, then push back while maintaining position of connecter with other hand coming through glove compartment.

And use an aftermarket AUX, the AVIN one sucks.

Thanks for the advice. I will try and gain access through the glove box. Know of any How To's for that. Yes, the Aux In likely sucks, but I want it mostly for navigation. I find the entering addresses into the BMW navigation to be crappy at best, and I think the routing and re-routing of a google maps will be significantly better than the BMW versions. Luckily, my E93 has BT music, so I am good on that front.

Just a tip from someone who almost gave up 3x. Make sure All connecters are flush, especially the adapter. There should be NO difference in sound. I know you've heard different but when I replaced AUX it sounded factory.

The head unit will go back in, you just have to be a bit innovative. I'll post some screen shots regarding the wiring.

OMG... using your advice and the vid, I finally got the thing installed. Soooooo surprised, but thanks so much for the help.

I did notice something weird though...and I am wondering if you experienced it also. When using the IDrive knob in the AVIN unit, it seems that it is also navigating the Cars IDrive system.

Thanks again.

Now that you mention it, I always wondered why my original iDrive screen kept changing even though I have the Android as the main interface 99% of the time. What you said above makes sense now. Mine is a China unit, not from AVIN, so I guess it's normal.

Guess its a good reason to use the touchscreen as much as possible.
