Spots on the navigation sysytem LCD
I bought the car used, and it always had spots and smudges on the LCD ive always ignored them thinking its just oil splashed from leather or other cleaning products, so today i got fed up with the little spots and tried tu clean it using an LCD cleaner but it turns out the screen is kind of scratched and the spots seem to be from the inside, so im looking for way to get rid of them and if the LCD can be replaced without having to change the entire system

Most likely it is the anti-reflective coating that is damaged (reflects a violet hue when intact). This is a fragile coating and is easily scratched. Some owners have polished all of the coating off and then added an anti-reflective thin film to the display (like those made by Nushield). You can remove the nav display easily by taking out the two small screws at the top, tilting it forward, and removing the rear cable.

That is strange, my '08 has a clear plastic cover in front of the actual screen.
I wonder how the actual screen was scratched/damaged? Photo with cover

Why are you guys comparing the E70 screen with the E9x screens? The E9x actual screen is within a housing with a clear plastic cover, so the actual screen is never touched or cleaned.
OP, if your actual screen is damaged, someone removed the screen from the casing and messed with it. You can replace #2 (trim COVER), not the actual #1 (monitor).

That fix looks really good WCM3.
My screen has some marks on it from what looks like a sunglasses case, but not nearly as bad as most of the E9x displays I've seen, though they aren't particularly noticeable with the display on. Have to admit I'm just as guilty of popping my sunglasses there (in or out of their case). |
