The Race Seat Fitment Thread

I thought this would be helpful for those shopping race seats.

Have you tried a seat recently, how did it fit you? What seats fit our cars?

Lots of options:
Recaro
Sparco
Cobra
OMP
Corbeau
Racetech

I'll start. 6' 2", 185 lbs, 38-inch waist.

I tried the Recaro Pole Position and Profi SPG this morning. Both were tight at the hips and slightly uncomfortable for that reason. The shoulders were fine on both. Unfortunately the harness holes on the Pole Positions were too low for me, sitting slightly below the tops of my shoulders.

Moving on, I hope to try the Profi SPG XL next and some others, just need to find them.

I run the Sparco Ergo in Medium. Fits great.

Comfortable enough to drive 10h to the track.

Removable halos are a massive plus.

I weigh around 175lb, 5' 9" or something

I've tried the Pole Position first- while it fits ok, the harness holes were far too low.

I ended up going with the Profi XL instead. Fitment is great and Harness holes in the correct position.

I'm roughly 200lbs athletic build, 5"11. Seat is comfortable. Currently getting installed in my e46 track build

I'm 6'03" and a lean 220 lbs. 36" waist. Not too lanky, pretty proportional. Haven't found anything that fits properly yet. If anyone knows, I'd like to hear from you.

(Starting to sound like a personals ad). I enjoy track days and long walks on the paddock... lol

Either try Recaro Profi XL or Sparco EVO II US. We have both in our showroom, feel free to test them out.

I sat in every one of those a little while back... nothing was overtly better than the other height wise. Maybe I need to do it again.

I sat in hayes180 seat the other day. Not bad, but not tall enough, even with the seat pad out. He had the regular size though.

Sparco Ergo Large, 6'2, 185lbs. I have some room in the thighs, I skip leg day though.
I have a Ergo Medium in the passenger side, shoulder pass through is too short. Don't use a Medium if you are taller.

Like SYT said, they aren't uncomfortable - I've driven 8 hours to RA and back with no issues.

I have mismatched seats lol.... Status Racing seat for the drivers side and Bride Vios for the passenger. If your waist size is 33 and above its going to be a tight fit. No sliders either because weight reduction

I don't know how you can do It without sliders. I slide it all the way back to ingress/egress every time!

I even have sliders on my passenger seat!

Granted, they are the awesome oem sliders thanks to the Brey Krause seat mounts but still

Anyone have any experience with the Cobra Imola Pro Fit GT? I'm wondering if it is comparable to the Recaro Profi SPG XL.

Im not a really big dude... 5'10" 167lbs. Plus my seats are pretty low that my legs doesn't hit the wheel getting in and out of the car.

I have had a few different seats and here are my thoughts:

I'm 5'11" 185 lbs, 33" waist, big booty

Recaro Pole position - great for street. Seat bottom width is very comfortable. Pass through for harness are far too low. I could not safely use with a harness

Recaro Profi XL - similar fit at seat as Pole Position. Pass through for harness is correct but my shoulder placement does not match seat shape well. They are better suited for someone taller than myself.

Cobra Suzuka Pro GT (wide version) - fits perfect, most comfortable seat I have used. Seat of standard version was too narrow for my hips. May have been OK after break in but car is street / track so the wider version was more suitable. Shoulders, pass through for harness and seat width are all very good. Seats are made in England and Kevlar reinforced. Fabric is fantastic, far better than Recaro's cloth seats. Durable inserts at wear points. Great fit, value and quality.

*. Update - Cobra released a new version of the Suzuka Pro Seat and it was changed to meet the new FIA standards. As a result it's 5 lbs heavier and the design and dimensions changed.

Went ahead and ordered a pair of Cobra Imola Pro-Fit GT seats, Schroth Enduro harnesses, and a number of Brey Krause parts. Can't wait to get everything installed! Will report back with a seat review after I get them in.

I just recently upgraded to OMP RS-PT2 seats. Came from Corbeau FX1 Pro. Absolutely best safety, comfort mod you can do in my opinion. Zero flex in them as compared to the FX1. Also I'm a smaller dude only 5'5 145 and the RS-PT2 hugs really nice. Super comfortable too. I went the fixed position route rather than sliders. I do not like sliders and don't really care how comfortable or convenient they make things (knowing they're perfectly ok just one of those mind game things). The price point on these is also fairly reasonable as well for the "next step up serious track seat" Only downfall is that it is very hard to look in blind spots or pull out of places if I ever take the car for errands. Very limited but that's the just seat doing it's job.

None of those are real race seats due to missing side head support.
The Hans device doesn't side support and needs a real race seat.
I'm 6'-2" 210#, with tall torso and tried many seats (the shoulder harness holes were all too low) and ended up with a Recaro Racer XL (unfortunately very expensive). I'm running it with the seat cushion removed and it fits like a glove and is super comfy.
I mounted the seat (with Recaro side brackets) directly to chassis (and more centered than stock) with my seat adapters (see my website), that's the lowest position possible.
Cheers

Jakob, wouldn't you say the Sparco Ergo is a true race seat? It has removable halos.

Fixed halos may be better but not if you plan on driving on the street!
