Becker Headers +15rwhp / +8rwtq Dyno results inside

So after looking at these headers for 1+ yrs, I finally made the plunge and the took the risk on these since there seems to be very little info out there on these headers. I've wanted to try a full catless setup so this is two mods in one for me.

Got these for ~$1k on ebay.
ebay link: https://ebay.us/wQx294

Currently I have test pipes (stock secondaries still in place), ms intake, bpm stage 2 tune, cnt exhaust.
I'll be installing these myself on my lift.
I'll document the process.

Notes on the install are on my blog, there were major issues with the length pbonsalb & SAMM3Y called it, the end of the end pipes were too long on one side and required cutting, pictures in part 2 link below:

Update #3 Before Dyno & Video posted, see post #61 https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...8&postcount=61

Update #4 After Dyno & Video posted, see post #73 https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=73

Update #2 Headers have arrived.
Quality seems pretty good, header flanges look good against a straight edge no warpage. The parts of the mid section that is 3" do seem pretty big in person.

Final Update:
Conclusion, Becker Performance Headers & xpipe made +15whp / +8wtq over test pipes. Dynos where done within a week of eachother, using the same tank of 93. Conditions were 93F & 96F. ~40% Humidity

100% down for the cause.

It'll be great to finally see what these cars do with a set of headers once all other variables are controlled.

Thank you, will definitely keep the thread updated.
I'll call around and try to schedule a baseline dyno for next Saturday 6/22 if I can.

We are at 40% of the goal.

Since I don't have much experience getting dynos done, thought i'd ask what the best steps are, someone suggested clearing adaptations a day before and driving it hard a bit before the dyno.

Is this a good plan for accurate before/after dynos?
1. Before Dyno: Clear adaptations drive it for a day fairly hard then dyno.
2. Fit the headers
3. After Dyno: Clear adaptions and drive it fairly hard for a day and then dyno.

It was also recommended I try to use the same gas. Hopefully if the dynos are not more than a week apart I can use the same tank of gas, assuming i dont drive it much during the week.

Can anyone confirm what gear is best to dyno a DCT in? Speed limiter removed (BPM Tune)

You want whichever gear is closest to a 1:1 ratio. The problem is that the DCT's 1:1 gear is 7th. I think someone like Mike Benvo can probably provide some tips here.

Didn't c63nyc on IG run headers when he had his m3? Maybe he has dyno sheets with the specific gains it gave him

Can you take measurements on the various tubing diameters and merge/collectors? I feel like a lot of information can be gleamed from that.

Yes, should not be a problem.

These are the measurements they provided so far:
Primary Tube: 1.6" OD
Port size: 1.5" ID
Collector: 2.5" OD
Piping: 3.0" OD
Flange Thickness: 0.40"
Runner Wall Thickness: 16 Gauge (1.5mm)

From the pictures, it looks like you will have to extend the wires for the rear 02s. Don’t know about the fronts. But that is no big deal. For the bigger 3.0” midpipe, it looks like they staggered the clamps for more room, but that may mean the rear pipes are staggered and if so, or if they are still 3.0”, they might not mate to a stock or aftermarket rear exhaust, in which case, you could buy the Becker version. Again, I don’t know for sure from the pictures.

I like the more forward placement of the X in the midpipe. That is supposed to be a better location than further back but the difference between 2’ and 4’ from the header collectors may not matter much.

Looking forward to the dyno. Thus far, it seems like bigger exhausts don’t add power except maybe on forced induction or stroker motor cars. More testing like you are doing will be helpful in figuring that out. Could be that you will need a custom tune to take advantage of less exhaust backpressure.

Yes extending the O2 wires might be needed, my tune does suppress the rear O2s but im not sure if it's okay to leave them disconnected. My hope is that the mid section will mate to the stock sized connection at the rear. It does look like just before it ends, there is a step down in pipe size. I also think the reason for the unevenness is because the exhaust isn't fitted and pressed together, the pieces are just layed out as you can see in this pic.

I agree, it's one of the reasons i've been holding off on buying an xpipe because these came with it and I like the design.

Yes, I wish I had a local tuner that would do a custom dyno tune for the headers. I may try to see if anyone can do a remote tune eventually but I'm not sure about that, they are usually hard to setup/co-ordinate and some people are unreliable.

Thank you. We are now at 50% of the goal.

I found a dyno that has done some E9x m3s before, recommended by a s/c friend. He will give me the files and it will include afr and he knows what to do about the rpm pickup, I've heard some dynos have problem with that.

Looks like an exact replica of the ARH setup, looking forward to see the results. man, this would pair so good with my valvetronic exhaust lol.

These headers are 1/3rd the price of ARH and there isn't much info out on them, I posted a year ago asking for info and many were interested but a year later still no info on them.

Usually when there are discussions about mods and people wanting to see dynos, some would say they'd clip in for dynos, so I'm giving the community the chance to make this happen and so far a few interested parties have stepped up. (Thanks guys)

I'd be perfectly content installing these and not doing any dynos but no doubt someone would question by review of them and ask/demand to see dynos.

The last ARH N/A dyno thread I remember was on a mustang dyno and everyone wanted him to drive hours to a dynojet to appease them because they didn't believe the gains on the mustang dyno.
