2008 E92 M3 Lease in NJ

Based on my understanding, there aren't too many 2008 E92 M3s left in the Northeast. My dealer managed to locate a a fully loaded a coupe from Virginia with the following options for me:
Cold Weather
Premium
Technology
M DCT
Moonroof
Power Rear Sunshade
Park Distance Control
HD Radio
Satellite Radio
BMW TeleServices
Steering TelServices
Ipod & USB Adaptor
Net total: $67,145
w/ Destiation & Gas Guzzler $69,220

My payments including 7% sales tax, 36 months, 12k miles/yr are $885 or $838 with multiple security deposits. I am putting 0 down and $2500 due at signing (1st mo payment, 3 yrs registration $286, Bank Fee $875, Doc Fee $185, .4% luxury tax).

Considering there are no Alpine White or Black fully loaded DCT E92 M3s in the Northeast and the car has to come from Virginia, I think I got a pretty good deal. Any input would be appreciated as I hear of some of you Cali guys getting $2k off invoice! My dealer said this is around $500 above invoice and he really can't go less since the car isn't local. I actually forgot to ask him for the actual price of the car but I took his word that it was $500 above.

I can't wait to get the car...coming from a lightly chipped 335xi, the M just has the right feel to it. My father has an M5 and honestly the M3 is more fun to drive.

Is it. I am really torn between an M5 and an M3 since they are leasing within a couple of hundred bucks per month. I like the styling of the M5 better than the E90's but also think that the E90 might be more fun to drive, and maybe even slightly quicker.

If I were getting a 4 door I would go for the M5...something about my E90 that doesn't look right, where as I think the E92 is gorgeous. If you're going for an M3 I would get the coupe.

In terms of power I would hands down say the M5. Maybe off the line it would be close (500hp RWD isn't too easy to take off lol), but on the highway there is no comparison. Handling would go to the 3 series...the 5s are BIG.

The DCT shifts like butter compared to the SMG. The SMG is very uncomfortable and snaps your neck around. I think it was fun at first, but after a couple years it gets old. I don't think my dad will be going for another SMG car. The DCT transmission and Porsche's PDK transmission are far superior. If I couldn't get an '08 at this good of a price, I was going to go for an '09 Carrera...I think the PDK is better than the DCT, but prefer both over the SMG.

I looked at M5s for a while before getting my E90. Loved the M5 - how could you not like a 200mph-capable sedan? But at the end of the day, the M5 felt too big and too removed compared to the E90. I think the M3 has more aggressive styling (personal preference, though I like the sleeper look of the M5), has more of a raw feel, is more nimble and "feels" faster than the M5. Both are terrific cars, but if you don't need the moderate amount of extra interior room the M5 offers, I would save a few $$$ and go with the M3.

I am one of the few out there who liked the SMG gearbox, so that had nothing to do with my decision. E60 M5's have gotten absolutely clobbered in value (you think E9x M cars are being discounted...) so if you decide on an M5 you could probably get a very low mileage 2007 for mid-high $50s.

NikB and Signes, thanks for the info. SMG is not an issue for me either, since I used to have a 3er with SMG a few years ago. I have also previously owned and a 550 and a 545 and loved them both but I thought they lacked a bit of the rawness of a 3er. But then the 500hp of the M5 can be more intoxicating, I don't know. So I am still torn between the two and the decision may come down to how much more per month the M5 might lease for.

well considering there are less 08 m3's now, a M5 may be a better idea with the rates currently on them.
