E36 M3 3.2 vs 2011 5.0 GT 5.0 1/4 mile

Hey everyone,

I hope one day to get a new M3 so I can have all the luxuries and technologies that most of you are enjoying who post here, but until college gives me a diploma i'll have to settle with this 1998 E36 M3

The description is in the video. My best pass on shot 235 rubber was 13.2@107.8. The heat kills your times, in case ya'll were wondering!

The stang hangs with e90 m3s. 13.2 is a stellar time though with 333 hp.

The biggest travesty is that the USA got the crap m3 engine instead of the high revving s52 in europe

I'm roughly around 355 bhp based on my calculations of drivetrain loss!

With the the right exhaust, airbox snout, proper intake ducting, UDP's and a re-tune i'm hoping to calculate 400bhp, or a rwhp gain of about 25-35.

The Mustang is around 375rwhp.

300 rwhp from an S54 is not uncommon these days. Put that in a 3200 lb car like the E36 M3 and you have a power to weight ratio comparable to the 350 rwhp from the S65 in the 3600 lb E92 M3. I like sleepers and nicely done project cars. Anyone with money can go out and buy an E92 M3 or Mustang GT. The newer cars do make comfortable and clean daily drivers, though.
